Morning shorts
Friday, May 26, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller OK, I’ve relented. But from now on Morning Shorts won’t be nearly as long as before. That was just getting out of hand. · Friday beer blogging and Friday deer blogging. · Green Party candidate says the guv’s education plan is a “bigger disappointment than the ‘Da Vinci Code.’” · Dick Kay’s last City Desk show is this weekend. Too bad it’s a holiday weekend, because not many people will see it, but NBC5 usually posts the programs online. I’ll put up a link next week. The show should be great because it’s a debate between Blagojevich and Topinka. · Luntz has advice for Republicans on immigration (pdf file - hat tip: Kos). · Map your Zip Code’s political donors. (Hat tip: Jake) · Backyard Conservative: “An invitation to corruption on our dime.” · The fake news that isn’t funny · “While no association between marijuana smoking and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find a 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day.” Good thing I quit.

Yay, Rich has relented!
We can all feel like Meeks to Rich’s Blago now.

Rich what did you stop smoking?

Rich are Dick’s guest AccordiOnGal and GRod? That was the hype. Thought Judy Bore might get cold feet

You stopped smoking? Good for you.
Frank Luntz is a slime-bag, but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Luntz is all about lip service - he might be the father of doublespeak like “compassionate conservative” and “clear skies” and “healthy forests.” (and easy killers - I didn’t say he came up with those terms specifically - just that he’s known for testing and crafting language that make even the most insidious GOP policies sound reasonable and fair).

It appears Stateline only covers the big city papers, not downstate news.
Got any interns who can do statewide news research for you to prioritize and add commentary?

What time does the Governor and Ms. Topinka debate? Also, please supply the inside scoop “ASAP” when it is completed. Rich, you know how the mind of the political “junkie” works. Thanks brother, and I and all of the folks in here hope that you had a great vacation. Even if it just happened to take place during a very, very busy “junkie-fest” of inside-politics news for the state.
