    Re: SWIDA

Well, there goes the Bond County vote.

I don’t know, and I’m not going to look it up, but either Vallas or J. Ryan must have carried the county in ‘02. Gotcha!

“Chicago area homeowners could see their property tax bills ‘more than double‘ next year unless the Illinois General Assembly renews the 7 percent cap on annual assessment increases, Mayor Daley and Cook County Assessor Jim Houlihan warned Wednesday.”

I’m glad that the ST is picking up this story but Ben Joravsky of your Chicago Reader has been beating the drum on this issue — in a way that is both comprehendable and interesting even to a DuPage suburbanite like me — for quite some time.

Flint should go back to painting Campbell Soup cans and hanging with avant garde; his daily squeals from Dirkson on T.V. every three or four hours is putting me off my Hungry Man dinners.
BTW - where’s the black turtlenecks these days?

People who don’t get enough action, sometimes have problems remembering what a phallic looks like. If that sculpture looks phallic to it’s critics, there must be something really wrong with mine and all the other guys at the Y.

From the Daily Herald article on the 6th’s stem cell phone calls — Roskam said Monday he supports research using adult and umbilical cord stem cells, adding that it has resulted in 65 treatments for illnesses. “When you’re looking at limited resources, this puts the money where there’s the greatest hope,” the Wheaton native said. (emph. added)

Why don’t reporters call conservatives out on that lie?

The only reason adult and cord blood research is advancing faster is because Federal funding is flowing to that research. Embryonic research has been hamstrung.

Marni Pyke and any other reporter reading — challenge conservatives when they repeat this lie of omission!

  6. - Skeeter - Thursday, Aug 3, 06 @ 11:22 am:

The Duckworth piece included an interesting line.

Apparently, Roskam does not believe that stem cell research is a hot button issue.

Of course he also does not believe that his work as an ambulance chasing personal injury lawyer, his close ties to Tom Delay, his extreme positions on abortion, and the fact that the NRA has taught him to sit and stay on command are hot button issues either.

C6 voters should think those are important issues, which shows why Roskam is headed for defeat.

Purple Heart, I deleted your post because it pasted the entire article into the comment. Please only paste excerpts. Thanks

There are no jobs in Danville. Though the homeless people being placed there will have shelter, I don’t think they have much chance of ever improving their position in life.
