* Ormsby…

Proft’s PAC ended the last quarter with $946K in the bank. It has since reported raising $735K.

…Adding… I don’t think he can keep that money. From the Board of Elections is this info on contribution caps

Political Action Committee:

    $10,500 from an individual
$21,100 from a corporation, labor organization, association or Political Party
$52,600 from a Political Action Committee or Candidate Political Committee

…Adding More… Since this is an Independent Expenditure committee, there don’t appear to be contribution limits.

Proft says he is spending $2 million. Once again, he appears to be focusing his attention on lawmakers who voted for gay marriage.

    Pretty transparently.

  2. - The Captain - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 3:44 pm:

Wealthy man’s personal shopper, not a bad gig.

  3. - Sage - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 3:51 pm:

Rich, it’s organized as an independent expenditure only PAC (meaning it can receive unlimited contributions).

  4. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 3:53 pm:

I wonder what his out is to keep the money?

Because on Aug. 11, 2014, a certain Todd Ricketts, 1060 W. Addison, Chioago (occupation: owner) kicked in $50K to Proft.

You know how your ballclub’s been going when you start kicking in cash to Proft in search of a “winner.”

Uiehlein lists his Pleasant Prairie WI address (Uline Drive) where he took the Scott Walker corporate welfare to relocate.

But he still lives in Lake Forest. Can’t take those high Wisconsin progressive personal income tax rates.

  5. - So what? - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:00 pm:

Glenn Nixon (79 Kan) came out supporting gay marriage and Im pretty sure he will see some of that money.

  6. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:02 pm:

    That’s a lot of dough.

How much will be left in the vault, how much will be out in the field, how much will be in the mailboxes?

When money rolls in like that, the Winner is Proft, no matter the outcomes.

  7. - Amalia - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:03 pm:

Quinn: describe how you work with Speaker Madigan.
Rauner: describe how you propose to work with Speaker Madigan.

  8. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:11 pm:

    thanks So What?

    That is One.

  9. - Big Muddy - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:15 pm:

Proft sure looks good holding a purse.

  10. - anon - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:16 pm:

Actually in Rauner dollars, Uihlein’s cash is ho-hum. We’re seeing dollars that large every minute now.

  11. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:17 pm:

About six months worth the work for him in Cicero.

  12. - walker - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:36 pm:

Shows how easy it is to avoid/evade political contribution caps. A new a law? Invent a new loophole.

Just pay a lawyer to invent a nonsensical or misleading legal entity, and then have your political beneficiaries threaten the IRS or anyone else who tries to uncover the deception.

  13. - Gooner - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 4:41 pm:

Hey, I’m willing to say crazy stuff on the radio and make a terrible run for elected office if somebody is willing to give me a lot of money.

If anybody is looking for somebody, I’m your guy.

  14. - RNUG - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 5:00 pm:

We don’t obey rules. Only the little people follow rules …

  15. - Meanderthal - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 5:05 pm:

It is mucho dinero, but I bet its comparable to what public employee unions have been giving to Quinn and other causes.

  16. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 5:15 pm:

Willy you can bet he will be the winner.
His printer, his mail guy, his take.

  17. - foster brooks - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 5:22 pm:

what union would give to this pac?

  18. - Precinct Captain - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 6:06 pm:

    - Meanderthal - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 5:05 pm:

This ain’t Dick’s only contribution. He’s given millions away.

  19. - circularfiringsquad - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 6:38 pm:

Most non staters are laughing at Proft attacking Chicagoans from his Lake Shore Drive condo mailing address
Maybe he thought no one would notice

  20. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 8:13 pm:

===Willy you can bet he will be the winner.
His printer, his mail guy, his take.===

Get his share up front, on the back side, and his “10%”. Free market society, good work if you can get it.

Gotta be able to afford that Lake Shore Drive address too…

  21. - Jon Zahm - Tuesday, Sep 30, 14 @ 11:53 pm:

Fact check: Nixon opposes gay marriage. One article out there misquoted him.

  22. - Jimmy - Wednesday, Oct 1, 14 @ 7:08 am:

Plain-light. Non wealthy Repubs have figured that you get wealthy conservative sugar daddies if you’re willing to sell out the middle class.

  23. - Jimmy - Wednesday, Oct 1, 14 @ 7:10 am:

    Palin-light - damn spell-checker.

  24. - VanillaMan - Wednesday, Oct 1, 14 @ 7:25 am:

I’m not a big fan of anti-anything enough to want to raise big money and find candidates that are single minded focus on being opposed to that issue.

I’m no fan of negative campaigning, and that includes candidates that run on nothing but anti-whatever.

While I may hold opinions opposing this or that, I respect the political process and voter support enough not to want to see it become the sole purpose of a campaign.

That said, I’m not a fan of Mr. Proft, nor of his candidates.

What he is doing however, is basically no different from what nearly every other special interest campaign and candidate is doing.

And I am just as opposed to those special interest folks as I am to Mr. Proft.
