Rauner launches new blog

Thursday, Sep 29, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller

* From the Rauner campaign…

GOV. RAUNER BLOG NOW LIVE

We launched our new blog on BruceRauner.com. This blog will keep Illinoisans up-to-date on important news and events involving Gov. Rauner. It will also feature original content from the Governor and his team. Check it out!

* The blog is here. From what appears to be its latest post

Protecting Taxpayers

AFSCME is pushing for generous pay increases and cadillac health coverage that would cost taxpayers billions . Governor Rauner has said repeatedly that Illinois is broke and has no extra money to give AFSCME.

Commenting does not appear to be available. Bummer.

* Anyway, go take a look and report back on the governor’s latest communications platform.

With “Pravda” already taken, they could come up with a better name…

  3. - Honeybear - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:16 pm:

I think I’ll do that right after I cross barefoot over a gym filled with legos.

  4. - walker - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:20 pm:

Because Facebook was such a success.

  5. - steward - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:20 pm:

Funny that they mention the lotto as an example of merit pay working but no mention of the oeig report on the department of human rights that shows it doesn’t work too well…

  6. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:21 pm:

“We plan for this blog to be as honest and straightforward as the documentary on Mike Madigan we produced… maybe”

  7. - Honeybear - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:22 pm:

What I find fascinating is the hubris necessary to think that it’s just a matter of getting his message out on another medium. “If I just say it this way they’ll understand”.

No governor we got your message and we aren’t interested.

Gee Rich, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

I might just go see his blog. All troll all the time.

Oh oh, maybe I can be their Ron/Sue/Lucky Pierre/Illinois Arizona Bob, Piece of Work.

    That’s fun.

Can’t wait till the comment section works……

  8. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:23 pm:

My sincere hope is that Kass… and McQueary… use pen names and get their “freelance” ok’d before there’s more apologizing like Kass has recently done.

    No one wants that.

  9. - Huh? - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:24 pm:

It is little wonder that commenting is not available. The site would blow up with the anti 1.4% comments.

  10. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:28 pm:

A blog without comments is really just a website, isn’t it?

  11. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:32 pm:

I think, to call it a “blog” you might actually have to have comments. But if you really want some entertainment, check out the “Accomplishments” portion of the website. Almost every single “accomplishment” is easily refutable (even without the Google).

  12. - Anon - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:36 pm:

    The Turnaround Blogenda!

Are we all still believing the claim that he doesn’t use email?

  13. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:40 pm:

I’ll give him this much: it’s much better than Madigan’s blog.

  14. - Scholar Athlete - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:42 pm:

Will he ever refer to us as citizens rather than taxpayers? Citizens have responsibilities to the commonweal larger than a monetary one. Rauner really is homo economicus.

  15. - Cubs in '16 - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:44 pm:

I suspect this is a devious plot to draw attention away from CapFax. semi/s

  16. - wordslinger - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:45 pm:

–I’ll give him this much: it’s much better than Madigan’s blog.–

Madigan is waiting to see how that crazy Guttenberg gizmo that’s sweeping Europe turns out.

Re the governor’s blog: Term-limits and redistricting are his top priorities.

They’d kick in sometime in the next decade?

Are there not pressing matters at the moment involving “deficits” and “billons” and “bills?”

    It’s self-satire.

  17. - GA Watcher - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:47 pm:

All those Raunerbots will now have a place they can call their own. Could this be the end of drive by comments by posters named Anon, Anonymous, etc?

  18. - Arthur Andersen - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:48 pm:

    tl:dr.

  19. - Politix - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:48 pm:

I don’t see a blog, I see a website. And I’m already annoyed by the fact that there are no datelines.

  20. - East Central Illinois - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:50 pm:

The “Get In Touch” line at the very bottom of his blog . . . what in the world is that? Maybe he needs to self-medicate and heed his own words.

  21. - GA Watcher - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:53 pm:

And for all of us who have pointed out how little the Governor has accomplished since he took office, click on the Accomplishments tab. There’s a list of twenty. So there.

  22. - TiredOfIt - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 2:59 pm:

Politix is correct - not a blog just a website with a lot of BR pictures. Must like to see his face on there. If he really thinks merit pay and merit bonuses work he needs to call the local Teamster office and ask them why they are now fielding hundred of grievances from the teamster staff after the “merit bonuses’ were handed out.

  23. - MSIX - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:12 pm:

His stats graph will be a flat line in a couple of weeks.

  24. - Deft Wing - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:15 pm:

The Gov’s new blog is as useful as Mike Madigan’s cell phone.

  25. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:18 pm:

===And for all of us who have pointed out how little the Governor has accomplished since he took office, click on the Accomplishments tab. There’s a list of twenty. So there.===

Ha ha ha ha ha. Ha ha ha ha ha. That’s marvelous. The guy can put together a blog with a list of accomplishments (that are mostly imaginary) and doesn’t even offer up a constitutionally mandated balanced budget proposal. Man, in business, this guy would have been fired. Thank God he found his way into the public sector.

  26. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:20 pm:

    Rauner Launches New Blog?

“Never mistake activity for achievement” - John Wooden.

  27. - Deft Wing - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:22 pm:

    – Man, in business, this guy would have been fired. Thank God he found his way into the public sector. –

^^^^ Those sure are some goofy observations right there. Even assuming the “accomplishments” are illusory and/or embellished.

  28. - Dr. Van Nostren - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:25 pm:

What other media will he use to spread his message? Hopefully Ron Sandack won’t be running the Governor’s Snapchat account.

  29. - @MisterJayEm - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:27 pm:

The superstars dropped the ball by not naming Rauner’s blog Capitol Faux.

    – MrJM

  30. - Anon - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:36 pm:

    Boooo-rinnnnnnngggg.

  31. - Langhorne - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:37 pm:

“The blog will keep taxpayers up to date on the governor doing ANYTHING BUT governing.”

Seriously, all puffery all day long.

“Accomplishments” is very thin gruel, indeed. Nothing there that matters to the average voter, or will improve their lives

  32. - Ducky LaMoore - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:38 pm:

    @Deft Wing

So, if in your job, if you were told to make a balanced budget, and instead you made a blog, you think you should keep your job? LOL

  33. - Honeybear - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:38 pm:

MisterJayEm- you are a titan Capitol Faux. so lucky I wasn’t sipping something at the moment I read that. Guffaw!

  34. - Carhartt Representative - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:40 pm:

I should have known that AFSCME would want generous raises and Cadillac benefits. I wonder if they’d settle for Cadillac raises and generous benefits. I’d stick it to them and try and get them to accept Chevrolet benefits and healthy raises.

  35. - Cough cough, I think I'm going to be sick - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:48 pm:

I was reading through the so called “Accomplishments” section. He made Judy Barr Topinka’s salary transparency site a permanent thing. Funny, none of his employees, or the Governors salary are listed, nor politicians either, aren’t they considered “State employees”? What is good for the goose, should be good for the gander as well. - Ducky LaMoore, if any of us did even 1/4th of the things the “Governor” has done in a “real” job, that wasn’t bought and paid for, we’d be shown the door in the first week. Budget, Smudget, it’s more fun to splash the web with pretty pictures, and falsehoods, because if it’s written by ME, the “GOVERNOR”, they’ll just know it has to be true. lol

  36. - Nobody Sent - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:49 pm:

Seriously? Does he really think this will fool anyone? I thought this guy didn’t even use e-mail. What a crock!

  37. - AC - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:52 pm:

==What other media will he use to spread his message?==

Maybe they’ll run Rauner’s blog in Dan Proft’s “newspapers” like the Chambana Sun, DuPage Policy Journal, East Central Reporter, Kankakee Times, Lake County Gazette, McHenry Times, Metro East Sun, North Cook News, Rock Island Today, Sangamon Sun, SW Illinois News, West Central Reporter and the West Cook News.

  38. - Linus - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 3:58 pm:

I initially thought this was another Proft newspaper and started looking for the Sudoku puzzle in vain

They are sayin’ in their best “Blazing Saddles Bandito” voice “We don’t need no stinking comments”

  40. - Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 4:05 pm:

The no comments are a bummer…

    I think I mean that at 62%

  41. - illini - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 4:13 pm:

First the fake newspapers and now the self promoting blog/website - what will be next?

  42. - illini - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 4:15 pm:

Other than the $$$$$$$$$$$ that he will pump into his carefully selected campaigns?

  43. - AC - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 4:30 pm:

==First the fake newspapers and now the self promoting blog/website - what will be next?==

The Peoria/Bloomington TV market is going through a lot of restructuring, maybe he could buy a Television station. RT for Rauner Television. Unfortunately, like OW pointed out with Pravda above, RT is also taken.

  44. - illini - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:00 pm:

I just got around to looking at the other tabs/sections on this blog.

Actually, as far as things go, this is a fairly good campaign website in terms of providing talking points for the “true believers”.

Rich, trust me when I say this, if this should happen to become your competition as it regards any legitimate and intelligent discussion about Illinois politics, you still win hands down!

  45. - Liberty - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:08 pm:

Time for the rank and file Republicans to leverage their party back from Rauner before it is too late…

  46. - illini - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:10 pm:

    @Liberty - Good Luck.

  47. - 47th Ward - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:12 pm:

He should have one of those counters, like the national debt calculator, that keeps track of his personal campaign donations. That’d be cool, watching it creep past $20,000,000 to $25,000,000 and beyond. We could take bets on when it tops $30 million.

Yeah, that’d be a neat feature and would be as informative as anything else on this website, maybe more.

  48. - Wading in... - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:15 pm:

Complete with a “Donate” button, and you can make donations recurring! Too funny!!!

  49. - Wensicia - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:26 pm:

Why do the topics keep repeating as you scroll downward?

He should have named it “My Selfie Station”.

  50. - Wordslinger - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:34 pm:

    Awfully redundant design.

Why would you place the same items three or four times on the same page?

  51. - PENSIONS ARE OFF LIMITS - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 5:50 pm:

At least there are no audio links.

  52. - AC - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 6:41 pm:

Included among the pictures were all the critical elements including Carhartt, a pickup truck and corn. Missing was the Harley, but there’s still time to add it. More seriously, I had the same scrolling issue where the stories repeated. It appears to be hosted in the Amazon cloud, but a lot of places use them for hosting. All in all, not a terrible campaign website if the redundant duplicated stories were removed.

  53. - burbanite - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 6:51 pm:

Does he ever stop campaigning? ever? I like blogs where you can comment. Moderated yes, but you should be able to comment.

  54. - Johnnie F. - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 6:55 pm:

When you really want to be sure you keep your constituents at a long-arm’s length, you just invent another venue to preach your one-sided message. Rauner wants nothing to do with dialogue and communication.

  55. - walker - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 7:42 pm:

Don’t let him have his own Twitter!

  56. - Tinsel Town - Thursday, Sep 29, 16 @ 7:53 pm:

Rauner has no comments on his posting…. what is he afraid of, the overwhelming support he has from the often quoted supporters he claims.

Come on Bruce… open up the comments, please! I’d like to say something positive about you and your administration….. ;) ~

  57. - RNUG - Friday, Sep 30, 16 @ 3:29 am:

Rauner has to keep the comments section closed. Otherwise it would be overwhelmed by all the Democrat Legislators supporting him.

    /Because Madigan!

  58. - Triple fat - Friday, Sep 30, 16 @ 6:16 am:

The list of accomplishments really doesn’t matter until his ultimate goal is accomplished. The ultimate goal, in my humble opinion, is to use his and other people’s money to purchase Illinois as his personal fiefdom. The citizens of Illinois cannot allow him and his fabulously wealthy friends any sort of success in this regard. In other words, if you are against the State Executive attempting to purchase undo influence over the two other branches of Goverment… If you are against the Status Quo of the monied elite purchasing influence… There is only one way to vote in November. You must vote against any Republican that has accepted campaign contributions from the Governor and / or the PACs he controls.

  59. - Triple fat - Friday, Sep 30, 16 @ 6:28 am:

To all the Rauner apologists - Your unprincipled slip is showing.

  60. - Triple fat - Friday, Sep 30, 16 @ 6:35 am:

    Golly darn — undue influence.

  61. - Kevin Highland - Friday, Sep 30, 16 @ 7:33 am:

and now the “Protecting Taxpayers” article appears to have been removed from his site.
