Did they really pass an increase in their salary?

  2. - The Captain - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 1:09 pm:

As of now there appear to be no Senate committees scheduled, is it straight to floor action or do any of these bills have to go to committee first?

  3. - James - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 1:24 pm:

Does anyone know if HB62 is final and cannot be amended further? There is some bills in the appropriations II committee in the senate, is there a chance they are passed today and added to HB62 or one of these bills?

  4. - Fax Machine - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 1:38 pm:

Not a lot of press about this one, but a bill passed both houses to remap Cook County Judicial subcircuits after the 2020 census (HB 2625)

    http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?GAID=15&GA=101&DocNum=2625&DocTypeID=HB&SessionID=108&LegID=118765

It’s the first time they have been remapped since they were implemented in 1992.

This is big news for all the political consultants, committeemen, and aspiring judges who read the blog

  5. - Moe Berg - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 1:39 pm:

Why does Guzzardi still have a motion to reconsider filed on HB 1438, legalizing cannabis?

  6. - anon2 - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 1:50 pm:

After the remap, there won’t be any Republicans elected in Cook’s judicial subcircuits. There were none last November. There will be party changers, however.

  7. - Rich Miller - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:03 pm:

    Moe, it’s coming off. Preemptive.

  8. - Moe Berg - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:11 pm:

    Thank you.

  9. - Grandson of Man - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:18 pm:

Until it comes off, does the motion to reconsider have any impact on the floor vote?

  10. - Moe Berg - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:28 pm:

The bill cannot advance to the governor until the motion to reconsider comes off the bill. He needs to table his motion.

  11. - Occasional Quipper - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:36 pm:

==Did they really pass an increase in their salary?==

No, the pay increases were negated by HB837 (Senate Amendment 1) which the Senate passed on Friday and the House concurred on yesterday.

  12. - Illiniana - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:49 pm:

    Occasionally Quipper-
I’m pretty sure they still apply. The AP just had a story about it. I believe you still have to take a vote after it is placed on an order of concurrence. The three budget/capital bills that passed both chambers which are linked above had amendments like HB837 that were placed on order of concurrence that still required a vote by the chamber.

  13. - Grandson of Man - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:50 pm:

“He needs to table his motion.”

Thank you very much. I just went and read the House Rules. It’s easy to table the motion, just file the notice with the Clerk at any time.

  14. - Rich Miller - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:51 pm:

===and the House concurred on yesterday. ===

Nope. Rep. Thaddeus Jones became the sponsor and filed a motion to non-concur and the House took no action.

  15. - 123456 - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:51 pm:

@DuPage - the language sent over from the House mentioned a COL increase for legistlators but it was caught by the Senate and changed.

  16. - Rich Miller - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:51 pm:

=== It’s easy to table the motion, just file the notice with the Clerk at any time. ===

And that’s the plan. I’ll explain in a bit.

  17. - Occasional Quipper - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 2:54 pm:

Illiniana - you are correct. I read the bill status page too quickly and saw it was put on concurrence, but you’re right, they didn’t vote on it yet.

  18. - Anonymous - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 3:00 pm:

==Nope. Rep. Thaddeus Jones became the sponsor and filed a motion to non-concur and the House took no action.==

Thanks for the correction, I’ll be more thorough before posting in the future.

  19. - Cubs can’t hit - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 3:08 pm:

Amazing how smoothly things go when the Governor, House and Senate are all Democratic and there is a super majority. The other party begs to get a few bones and that is what they get. Mike Madigan’s dream.

  20. - Rich Miller - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 3:24 pm:

===Amazing how smoothly things go when the Governor, House and Senate are all Democratic and there is a super majority===

    Pat Quinn might disagree.

  21. - Oswego Willy - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 3:54 pm:

    ===Pat Quinn might disagree.===

Governor Quinn, a gadfly in his career, lacked the leadership seen by Governor Pritzker.

    It’s like someone owning a Ferrari…

If you can’t drive it, it doesn’t really matter to most that you have it.

  22. - Transpo Tom - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 4:27 pm:

    Senate confirmation of IDOT Sec?

  23. - MakePoliticsCoolAgain - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 4:44 pm:

For consistency, shouldn’t HA3 be removed from “Budget/Capital/Gaming pending in Senate” list?

  24. - SAP - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 6:03 pm:

Hate to see the anti GOP rhetoric. Bruce Rauner was a bad Governor because he didn’t know how to govern, not because he was a Republican.

  25. - Boat captain - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 6:19 pm:

Rauner was a bad governor because he was a republican pushing an agenda that was not acceptable in Illinois. The election proved that and he put the Republicans in the super minority for this session. Say what you will, Pritzker knows how to lead and compromise, because he recognized the things that are important to the people of Illinois.

  26. - BLG - Sunday, Jun 2, 19 @ 9:08 pm:

Did the Governor sweep the Illinois Affordable Housing Trust Fund? His budget called for taking half the fund - $21M - to fill budget holes.

  27. - Nick Name - Monday, Jun 3, 19 @ 7:15 am:

===Rauner was a bad governor because he was a republican pushing an agenda that was not acceptable in Illinois.===

Rauner was a bad Governor because (in part) of his “my way or the highway” approach. By agreeing to provide votes in exchange for his pro-business demands, Durkin accomplished more in one day that Rauner did in four years.
