Today’s quotable

* This man regularly emails state legislators, but today’s is particularly relevant considering the horrible news out of Taylorville…
…Adding… Rep. Jonathan Carroll received the email as well…
I guess we all have our own definition of what constitutes a hero. I would suggest that the front-line workers and medical professionals who continue to get overrun by those who deny the science of vaccines and masks are much bigger heroes than those seeking headlines arguing with smart people.

And I was ready to nominate Chris Miller as today’s Worst Person in Illinois, but a new challenger has emerged.

Delete and block. Done.
- Dotnonymous - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 3:14 pm:
Only the very worst people exploit medical ignorance for personal gain…T. G. Devore appears chief among them.

“Lead for the People”? So now he wants to get into drinking water distribution too?
- irony is fun - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 3:22 pm:
Thomas DeVore is the COVID version of an ambulance chaser.
- Pundent - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 3:22 pm:
I think he meant “all that he is allowing us to do to our children.” But under normal circumstances child endangerment would not be something to be celebrated.
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 3:24 pm:
What’s worrisome is the ridiculous misinformation and disinformation now has this idea to honor the best purveyors.
It’s insulting.

Going with what OW wrote.

At this point, I’m just sitting back and waiting for the estate sale schedules.

I agree. If we ever do a holiday for COVID we don’t need it to be about remembrance or even the heroes. We need to remember the harm and destruction caused by dishonest and unscrupulous people and over-sized and powerful social media corporations.

Here’s a suggestion…honor Tommy DeVore on Halloween. It’s a day to celebrate tricksters and ghouls.

I see somebody here is on the list. lol

He somehow got a list of staff e-mails from the State Board of Education and has been e-mailing them daily. The problem is, the folks he’s sending the e-mails to have nothing to do with the issue; they are the folks that make sure funds are disbursed to school districts.
- Veggieh8 - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 3:54 pm:
@Silent Budgeteer
I’m guessing he got it from facebook. There is a “high school sports” facebook group on there that is big in the antivax/antimask stuff and the admin there loves to post emails he finds for stuff like that.

“Thomas Devore is a real-life American hero…” No. Behind the tats and muscles lies a sad, insecure little man. He’s getting his 15 minutes of adoration at a very steep price. I hope it helps him sleep.

=== He’s getting his 15 minutes of adoration===
It’ll be a lot longer if it gets him an appellate court seat.

Can’t beat someone with no one…
It’ll be an interesting race to watch
- DuPage Saint - Friday, Sep 17, 21 @ 4:25 pm:
Well I guess if Devore gets on the appellate court it will keep the Supreme Court busy

Too much for today (and the week); it’s sad and frustrating. I need a bit of a break. Most of the folks here give me hope, but the news about people like Bailey, DeVore, and Rabine…not so much.
Time to log off the blog (and the social media sites), put on the Grateful Dead Radio stream, make a batch of fresh salsa from the garden, and then, mix up a margarita to chase the chips, salsa, and edible. See y’all next week.
