  2. - Former Downstater - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:09 pm:

The amount of tax dollars wasted by elected officials on “security” is staggering.

That SUV was parked in a no-parking zone right in front of the Attorney General’s Office. Guess she can do whatever she wants!! Maybe the 3 City of Springfield and Capital Police could have made it move?

To the caption “A $90,000 vehicle bought to you by the taxpayers.”

  6. - Pot calling kettle - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:25 pm:

Why aren’t there any handles on the inside of these doors?

  7. - New Day - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:29 pm:

She showed up on the brand spanking new SUV with police lights flashing and a security detail. She’s mayor of freakin’ Dolton. Can the Feds get on with it already.

  8. - Long time Independent - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:29 pm:

Better talk to her like your talking to the Feds directly

    I mean seriously.

I remember convicted felon and former Cicero mayor and felon Betty Loren-Maltese being driven around by a security detail just like this.

  12. - Vader - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:52 pm:

I don’t understand why she hasn’t been indicted yet. She blatantly uses taxpayer money for her own purposes and uses the police to strong arm donations

  13. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 1:58 pm:

Cmon lady, outta the car, we are repossessing it because Dalton hasn’t paid the lease for the past 6 months.

  14. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:00 pm:

I need a chauffeur because they allow me to get work done while being driven around. It’s a better use of my time.

  15. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:02 pm:

Gimme a minute, I got a $10 in my wallet somewhere.

  16. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:03 pm:

  20. - Homebody - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:22 pm:

I’m with Former Downstater on this one. Random mayors don’t need security on the public dime.

  21. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:23 pm:

    - Ma’am, the protectee is never allowed to sit directly behind the driver. That’s a regulation. Nobody does it. Not the president, not anybody.

    - The sun will be on that side, and I do not want the sun.

    - Perhaps you could sit on the proper side but slightly then to the middle.

    - Nope.

    - Ma’am, excuse me… but we are not leaving this house until you are seated properly…

  22. - Huh? - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:25 pm:

Tiffany Henyard isn’t some “random mayor”, she is the mayor of Dalton and the Thornton Township supervisor. /s

  23. - cover - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:39 pm:

Can the General Assembly finally look at abolishing township government in Illinois?

  24. - The Magnificent Purple Walnut - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 2:51 pm:

    Joe Bloe for the win.

  26. - Former Downstater - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 3:13 pm:

Homebody, it’s not just random mayors. How many Chicago alders still have drivers? Check out the current MWRD President’s entourage.

  29. - Red Ranger - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 4:18 pm:

Yes Mayor it will be the same procedure when we pull up to the Dirksen building, so this is good practice.

  30. - Pot calling kettle - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 4:19 pm:

Who wants to give me a “gratuity”? Those are legal, right?

  31. - Rudy’s teeth - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 4:24 pm:

Is Mayor Henyard waiting for her driver to lay down the red carpet?

  32. - OneMan - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 4:44 pm:

The Mayor pauses after hearing that there is no state grant program to put government officials’ photos on every surface in a town.

  33. - Eddy - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 5:47 pm:

Harvey used to have a Mayor like that. So sad

  34. - Rudy’s teeth - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 6:04 pm:

At least, Mayor Henyard’s driver is not wearing a chauffeur’s uniform for the trip to Springfield.

  35. - Proud Sucker - Wednesday, Apr 17, 24 @ 10:35 pm:

She also stopped by the IML reception at ALPML with the same Entourage.
