RIP to Kris Kristopherson. One of the best songwriters of all time. Three of the four Highwaymen now tuning their guitars getting ready for their big show in the sky.
Not really my part of illinois, but just got back from a week in Delaware watching Philadelphia news. So glad Illinois is not a battleground state. I feel for the people who have to put up with all the horrid commercials just to get local weather and news. With an unfamiliar remote I wasn’t always fast enough to hit mute.
Still lots of drama in B-N community over the pop-up parties that exploded in B-N over Illinois State’s homecoming weekend and had an 18-year old from Oak Lawn being tragically shot and killed. Lots of tiktok videos circulating of swarms of revelers taking over a gas station or parking lots and social media posts claiming people came down from Chicago/suburbs to party here without any connection to ISU. The chiefs of Bloomington and Normal P.D. are supposed to go on talk radio tomorrow to talk about the townies’ public safety concerns about pop-up parties. With contested elections for Normal and Bloomington mayor this spring, I expect some folks to seize on this as a political issue.
Why aren’t Secretary of State (DMV) offices ADA compliant?
Went into the Ottawa office, the parking spots were laid out wrong, there was no ADA push button to open the door. When these errors were pointed out to the office manager, she got argumentative didn’t care about the problem and the civil rights violations.
It is difficult enough to maneuver a wheelchair bound person when things are correct, it is doubly difficult when things are wrong.
Yesterday’s Illinois water loophole story reminded me that DeKalb has become more attractive to industry not only for our enterprise zones but also our aquifers. I’m convinced Meta moved here for that, and they got a sweet deal in their water agreement with us: permission to dig wells if they like.
So Chicagoans and Chicagoland suburbanites (even worse) are alleged to have gone down to Bloomington-Normal to participate in parties and cause chaos. While I can believe some may have come down for a party or two (who doesn’t love a party even for a school and team once doesn’t know), but I find it hard to believe enough came to cause that kind of chaos.
The lawsuits against the Village of Manteno and Gotion Inc were dismissed in the Kankakee Circuit Court according to The Daily Journal this morning. It looks like 4 of the 5 counts were dismissed without prejudice so they can be refilled with the 5th count against the Village/Officials dismissed with prejudice.

Lots more to it than that. Waiting on a copy of the lawsuit to explain.

Yeah, I knew there was lots more to it. Thanks for the full write up on the case.
