Lost a tooth filling, which led to a tooth infection, which led to lots of nighttime pain, which woke me up in the middle of the night, which caused me to oversleep this morning and miss my dentist appointment. Feeling just ducky. Anyway, some posts will be up shortly. Trying to shake the grog.

Suggested QOTD until Rich returns: How are Quinn’s top staffers doing thus far in their new roles?

  2. - Zounds - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:07 am:

Now if we had state run health care, I’d be asking myself “How much is *this* going to cost me?”

  3. - Sully - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:07 am:

    Rich,
The members of the Sullivan Caucus have had many inquiries about our annual party. It is set for Tuesday, March 24th at Sammy’s starting at 5:30p.

Usually it is the week before the Big Day, but we knew that this Committee Deadline week would be tough. Then we realized that getting a tavern to close on St. Patrick’s Day for us would not be easy. Therefore, we thought we would give everyone a week to recover. So, all are invited to join us for some Irish fun on March 24th!

  4. - He Makes Ryan Look Like a Saint - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:08 am:

Now Rich, don’t blame it on yourself. It is all the previous administrations fault. They left you with at big Hole!!

  5. - Wumpus - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:12 am:

Well Richardo, at least it is a Friday and we are through the elections and the Blago-Burris mess.

  6. - Speaking at Will - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:13 am:

    BLAGO WANTED ZELL DONATION

  7. - He Makes Ryan Look Like a Saint - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:13 am:

A friend called from IDOT Traffic Safety. They announced they will NOT be moving to Harrisburg but will be moving out of the building by the end of the year. Good Call Gov Quinn.

  8. - How Ironic - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:14 am:

Wow Rich, that stinks. My wife had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago. Pain was so bad, she ended up having to go to the dentist on Saturday, and an emergency root canal on Monday.

Don’t want to mess with an infection in your mouth/head. Get better. Apparently tooth pain is likened to that of giving birth.

  9. - Speaking at Will - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:14 am:

Illinois income tax rate may rise by 50%

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-quinn-tax-hike-13mar13,0,7352846.story

  10. - Obamalac - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:16 am:

A shot of vodka would help you this morning Rich. Dad

  11. - Six Degrees of Separation - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:20 am:

    I think I’ll take Obamalac’s medical advice, even though I don’t have a toothache.

  12. - Taxman - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:21 am:

If Quinn raises the income tax by 50% its political suicide. He is playing into the Madigans hands. Especially after Lisa said it was not a time to raise taxes on working people. Lisa will run for Governor on this issue: Quinn raised your taxes instead of cutting government waste. Quinn made the people of Illinois pay for the mistakes of government.

Id be very weary of any advice from the Speaker.

I want Quinn to succeed because he seems like a decent man, if not politically naive. Doesnt he see what is going on?

  13. - Once a Mom, Always a Mom - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:25 am:

Friday, the 13th, strikes again! Make sure you get to a dentist today. As How Ironic says, you don’t want to mess around with an infection in your mouth. Thinking about you. I will call you later. Love Mom

  14. - OneMan - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:26 am:

He wanted a donation from Zell, no… Heck I suspect he wanted a donation from the mensroom attendant at Harry Carey’s after he used the head.

  15. - rachel - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:30 am:

I think Irish Whiskey is a little more appropriate for a toothache this time of year. Although it is appropriate any time of the year.

  16. - tanstaafl - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:32 am:

Obamalac - This close to St. Pat’s, I would prefer some good Irish Cream instead of vodka.

  17. - yinn - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:38 am:

Happy Friday the 13th, RM. Bummer.

  18. - Amy - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:40 am:

oh rich, poor bubba! sorry you are in pain. you’ll be getting antibiotics, so, eat lots of yogurt to balance your body. and water, the all helping substance. get better, then get to a nice big drink!

  19. - Ken in Aurora - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 10:49 am:

Hey, Rich - I was in ATL this week and wasn’t checking in here as much as usual. Did you do anything on the pro-gun rally in Springfield Wednesday? I’m told 5K people marched.

  20. - Jethro - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 11:33 am:

It must be Friday the 13th.

  21. - Ghost - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 12:08 pm:

For want of a tooth the blog was lost…..

  22. - Mickey M. Mouse - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 12:53 pm:

    Rich, feel better soon!

Here’s my suggestion for a QOTD: What kind of Houdini act will Pat Quinn attempt to pull off to escape from the adverse political consequences of raising the state income tax?

  23. - Pot calling kettle - Friday, Mar 13, 09 @ 1:37 pm:

I’m going with the Bailey’s remedy. I’ll take some myself, just in case.

BTW, pretty healthy blog today. Were you working while you were in the chair? We freeloaders are getting too much!

Thanks for not bagging the whole day.
