Corporate America funding DGA Illinois?
Friday, Feb 14, 2014 - Posted by Rich Miller * Check out some contributions that the Democratic Governors Association - Illinois has reported today…
And not a union on today’s list. From what I hear, the DGA is going all out on this anti-Rauner blitz. But Walmart and Bechtel? Weird.

This is Twilight Zone stuff.
Up is down and down is up.

Strange Bedfellows indeed.

Quinn & the DGA understand;
Framing “Bruce Rauner” from jump street must occur and continue. Rauner is going twice 140 mph after March 18, and Quinn is going to frame the argument through the DGA - IL

That is weird. Hedging bets? Because Farmer Bruce is a money machine.

“..,going to go 140 mph…”
- so... - Friday, Feb 14, 14 @ 3:00 pm:
Not surprising. Corporations give generously to both the RGA and the DGA. Those committees are frequently very helpful when it comes to getting access to a Governor, provided you’ve been giving, of course.
Pull the RGA’s reports and I guarantee you you’ll find contributions from those same corporations.

Pardon the pun, but that’s a lot of gas.
- Cam Brady - Friday, Feb 14, 14 @ 3:16 pm:
And I think it goes without saying, this lunch never happened.

Walmart is probably upset that the Count shopped at Farm and Home Supply for his Carhartt jacket. The profit margin on that is larger than the $18 watch he got at Walmart.

so… kind of hit on it, corps do contribute to both sides. I’d be curious what Wal-mart’s ask is - do they want access for some purpose? Do they have some piece of legislation they want to get through this year, or a reg they want or want to stop?
Or…is this a Brady boost? Home Builders anyone?

OT Rich but do you know if any rival campaigns have complained or ISBE has received any complaints about MidAmerica Fund not registering as a committee yet?
The thing was incorporated in mid-Jan. and has been running ads since at least Jan 31. Pretty sure that is 10 business days and no ISBE filing even if you take out a day from Lincolns bday and only start counting the first day the ads aired. Noticed Pearson said they have further bought $60k of air time in Chicago so what’s going on?

“Pat Quinn is a friend of the working men and women of Illinois.” - This message was brought to you by Walmart.

@so…: Of course, it’s commonplace for corporates to donoate to both DGA and RGA; however, this early to an IL PAC with an essentially unopposed incumbent is very odd, and these amounts are staggering. This is huge news for those who have figured it out.
By the way, Rich. Holy Cow Ranch is the family that founded Con-Air — hair dryers, etc. The current leader, the son of the founder, did a nice stretch in jail for tax evasion.

Quinn signed a fracking bill so not surprising oil and gas could support him or seek to influence him on how his administration handles fracking.
Bechtel could be involved in the Illiana construction.
The home builders have benefitted from Quinn’s money for homes for returning veterans program.
WalMart is the only one I don’t get but in 2012 they were a top 20 DGA contributor nationwide. Perhaps hoping to dissuade Dems from pursuing minimum wage increases?

===so what’s going on?===
The state is powerless to stop the ads from running. Somebody’s gonna have to complain to the stations.
