Question of the day
Tuesday, Nov 17, 2015 - Posted by Rich Miller
* State Sen. Napoleon Harris (D-Harvey) kicked off his US Senate campaign today…
But in responding to reporters’ questions about international events, Harris at times appeared ill-prepared.
While his campaign issued a handout in which Harris voiced support for “shifting the focus of our foreign aid from the Middle East back to the Americas,” the candidate did not directly respond to a question about how that position would affect U.S. aid to Israel.
“Right now, we’re still developing all of our policies in regards to foreign policy. But I think what’s important is to realize we have a lot of work to do at home, and the intent is to make sure that first we take care of home and our neighboring countries,” he said.
When asked about Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Monday call to temporarily stop accepting Syrian refugees in Illinois, Harris said, “I haven’t heard about Gov. Rauner’s comments on that” and said the governor should “get a balanced budget.”
* The Questions: Other topics that Sen. Harris might want to avoid?
Snark is heavily encouraged.

Rich, I kid. Only about 1.5% of college players ever make an NFL roster, much less play a number of years.
The level of play and competition to stay in the game is hard to imagine.
Put it this way: Pat Fitz at Northwestern won both the Nagurski and Bednarik awards as the best college defensive player in the country two years in a row. He never played a down in an NFL regular season game.
Harris, also of Northwestern, played eight years in the NFL. They don’t keep you around if there’s someone better.

Sorry, Rich. He was an NFL journeyman. If Junior Seau or Singletary or Alan Page had put 10 percent effort into it, you’d be dead now.
As for snark, Mr. Harris might want to avoid anything having to do with the historic implications of his first name. This Senate race might just be his Waterloo.

Just want to know how he will relate to the D’s and R’s in downstate and Southern Illinois and how he can effectively address the issues most of us have.
I know the primary will probably be decided by the voters who live North of I-80, but this is a big state and there are others who need to be brought into the mix.

At least slowing down the Madigan, machine Dem path to disaster that Napoleon’s party sent Illinois on. Another question Mr Harris may not want to be asked is what he did to correct the disastrous mistakes made by his party in failing to fund pensions while keeping up pork and patronage spending at high levels while he was I the GA. He’d likely have a less coherent explanation for that than his deficiencies in foreign policy….
My guess is that he won’t tell the truth on this…that he sold out the people of Illinois to kiss Madigan’s tail for his political support.
