Rauner is gearing up
Tuesday, Jul 26, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller * Gov. Rauner has started posting again to his campaign Facebook and Twitter accounts. He hadn’t posted anything to those pages since January (Facebook) or February (Twitter) of 2015, which is shortly after he was sworn in. Also, his JoinBruce.com campaign website’s registration was updated on July 10th, but the site is still not yet activated. Thoughts?

Hold on to your seats. It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
- LizPhairTax - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:18 am:
Ron, sorry to see you go but we will find you another spot in the organization…

“Thoughts?”
Um…he’s running for re-election?
- Reality Check - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:23 am:
Two thoughts.
One, didn’t he just say he’s still new in his job? But now he’s campaigning instead of, you know, doing that job?
Two, are these, like Proft’s fake newspapers, part of Rauner’s recently touted “creative ways” to bypass the media?
- Wensicia - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:28 am:
He’s probably ready to launch his new “messaging” campaign for the voters. I can’t wait to be properly educated by the governor.
- Doug Simpson - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:30 am:
Bruce Rauner, the Governor of Illinois who endorses Donald Trump!
- illini97 - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:32 am:
Great! Now he’ll have a website to post all the supporting documentation showing the return on investment for the Turnaround Agenda.
Must be reams and reams of data to back up the assertion that ending prevailing wage will fill the State’s coffers to overflowing.
- RIJ - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:34 am:
Ha! Good luck, buddy. You’re going to need it, and a lot of your money.
Unless Pat Quinn squirms his way back in.
- SAP - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:34 am:
Get the Downers Grove Police Department on speed dial.
- Nick Name - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:37 am:
“But now he’s campaigning”
Heh. To be “now” campaigning requires him to have stopped campaigning at some point.
- slow down - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:47 am:
Of course, Rauner has never stopped campaigning so no meaningful change to note. It would be nice if he started gearing up to govern but sadly there’s little chance of that happening any time soon.

@illni 97:
Agreed. I wasnt aware that if I made less money, hence with less money to spend, the economy will grow.
I guess as long as there is McCroryCare (government bathroom regulation) the world will be at peace.
Best,
Doug
- IRLJ - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:53 am:
Didn’t he say during his primary campaign, while pushing term limits, that if elected he’d only serve one term?
- Rich Miller - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 11:54 am:
IRLJ, no.

Fall 16 elections. Going to follow that Trump Twitter example.
- Cassandra - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 12:46 pm:
The upcoming November election will take up all the political room until around the first of the year, say, the inauguration.
After that, the Rauner vs. ? race will take center stage in Illinois, for two years!.
No harm in being prepared.

Oh god, the prospect of another 4 years of this mess?
- Last Bull Moose - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 1:29 pm:
ILRJ, my wife thought she heard that too. I defer to Rich as his records are better than my memory.
- Union Leader - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 1:40 pm:
His superstars did tell him he won the election, right? He knows he has to start governin?
- DHSBob - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 1:43 pm:
It wasn’t Gov Rauner.. It is MJM.. he is the one responsible for this!!
- Anon221 - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 2:53 pm:
Rauner has entered the national stage this week, and not on his terms, but because of his terms (TurnAround) and the next term he covets. Brownback and Walker et. al. have had their moments in the “sun”, now it’s Rauner’s turn to be front in center in the spotlight! He ain’t gonna like it!

He said something like, give me 4 years to shake up the state, and let the people judge me then.

Bill Ruthhart at 00:17 in above-linked Tronc video: “… Chris Kennedy, a Chicago businessman, son of the slain John F. Kennedy, …”
Jeesh.
- Anon221 - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 6:02 pm:
X-prof- I didn’t post that link for the video, just the article. But I agree with you- great journalism in the vid report ( heavy sarcasm). Maybe he needs to apply for a Proft paper job.

== He said something like, give me 4 years to shake up the state, and let the people judge me then. ==
He’ll probably win a reelection. There are many more people that like to grab the popcorn and sit and watch than there are that are affected by the impasse. That plus all the other political math tells me we’re stuck with this man until he dies or kills unions, whichever happens first.
- The Fool On The Hill - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 7:16 pm:
=he’ll win a reelection =
Ya, with the Trib’s help.
- Hottot - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 8:48 pm:
Should someone tell him he isn’t running this November?
- peon - Tuesday, Jul 26, 16 @ 9:52 pm:
Most Illinois voters dislike Madigan (13% approval) and Rauner (37% and falling) because of the irritating dysfunction of state government. The Blago-Jones-Madigan bickering was annoying enough, and predictably followed by Quinn-Cullerton-Madigan dysfunction, but now a simple annual budget is too much to expect. A vision for the state’s economy in 2025 is such an impossible dream that we don’t even ask.
Rauner has taken the dysfunction to new levels - I think his reelection chances are limited.

How about 15 tax return fot the foundation
- Hey now - Wednesday, Jul 27, 16 @ 8:05 am:
Rauner is basicly an out of touch billioniare who has self interest driven by national politics drivin by the Koch brothers. The state is historically in worst shape as a result of a so called businessman who made millions off of public pensions and inside deals we must not forget. Time for Rauner and candidates he backs to go.
