White says “no intention” of running again
Thursday, Aug 18, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller * There were some rumors that Secretary of State Jesse White would use today’s festivities to announce he was running again in 2018. Things could still change, but it’s not happening yet…

“Jesse White: no intentions if running in 2018″
- Honeybear - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 9:21 am:
I don’t blame him.

Easy on the typos…
To the Post,
I’m not throwing my hat in the ring for Secretary of State yet, but if Jesse White does close the door 100% completely, I might have the only hat NOT in the ring for SoS…

He says that every time and then always runs. But then again. He is getting up there. What’s Pat Quinn up to…? Ha ha ha.

OW, “never say never.”

Who isn’t?

Maybe Jesse is going to devote himself to the production of the motion picture about his life. White has been trotting that story out for about thirty-five years.

The power couple from the 27th Ward, Walter Burnett and his lovely wife Darlena Williams-Burnett have let it be known that are interested.

Neither of them have a chance in hell of winning.

Either Jesse never ages, or came into adulthood looking 60 years old

If he ran for governor in 2018, he would win it.
- Anonymouth - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 11:19 am:
On a side note, Ill believe this when I see it. Jesse has been “not running” for at least a decade now.

What about White for Governor?
- Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 12:12 pm:
Nice man. Did a good job. Way past time to go though.
- Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 12:21 pm:
I should add that I feel that way not because of his numerical age, but because he’s been in the same Constitutional office for five terms already. Regardless of party I think a breath of fresh air and new leadership is needed more often than every 20 years. Beginning to feel the same way about AG too.

Agree with Ron Burgundy. He seems to have developed a good staff, but officials need to be changed out.

Anyone know who’s actually running the SOS office for him? He never was a “details” guy or hands on manager.
Excellent at PR and not saying something stupid, however. I also haven’t heard about him being involved personally with any corruption at the SOS. That puts him ahead of most Illinois pols.
It’s so amazing that the long standing culture of corruption and bribery at the Illinois SOS office was completely ended under him!(snark)
- Ron Burgundy - Thursday, Aug 18, 16 @ 3:21 pm:
Yeah it’s not necessarily Sec. White or the other officials that worry me. It’s the next couple layers down that I worry get a bit too comfortable over a long period of time and it leaves things ripe for shenanigans.

Ron why throw out a good non egomaniac administrator because you have a term limit desire. If you constantly evict people on time then only the non elected bureaucrats have any power since they are the only ones skilled enough to run the place.
We already have term limits. They are called elections. They are held every 2 or 4 years. If you can’t get someone you dislike from another district turfed out then move into that district and run yourself. Or recruit a good challenger. If the person is a poor fit for the people they represent it shouldn’t be so difficult.
