Rauner knows that the mood of the voters is to love millionaires as the most successful among us. So,no one cares that Bruce’s piggyback has bought Munger and the Illinois GOP.
Kind of like Trump adoration.
The moribund state GOP was ripe for a takeover by someone like Rauner who was willing to spend his and his friends’ money (Blair Hull picked poorly).
What will be interesting to see after he’s done — voluntarily or involuntarily — is whether he leaves a party structure that can remain competitive, or just a bunch of hangers-on who will melt away once the checks stop.
Because make no mistake, right now its all about the money he can bring to the table that is driving the effort.
I don’t understand why all the Rauner haters automatically hate Munger. Is it simply guilt by association or has she actually done something to deserve such hatred? The Comptroller has an impossible job; do they think if Mendoza was Comptroller she would make money magically appear?
With Munger as Comptroller you have someone who can complain to Rauner about the problems; if Mendoza is the Comptroller Rauner just won’t care and will tell those who aren’t getting paid to go scratch.
LOL…look to five thirty eight. There is a bigger picture here campers. A tsunami i coming. Such things are not even noticed. Spend away folks. You are a part of of the coattails. Believe it, or not.

LOL, where have you seen that before in politics, since…. forever?
In case you’ve missed it, for example, the governor has been pouring tens of millions of dollars into just that strategy. That’s been his bread-and-butter since he started to run for office.

It’s what you do for your wingman. Munger needs some cash to deal with the voters who want to block Rauner’s efforts so he can live the dream.

For a guy who says throwing money at your problems is no way to solve them, Governor Rauner sure does throw a lot of money at his problems.

So let’s say Munger continues to go negative, there’s no reason to believe Mubger won’t get another Million on Monday to race to the end positive?
