Pritzker, Lisa Madigan added to enemies list

* From the ILGOP…
Newly published federal campaign finance reports reveal that both Chris Kennedy and J.B. Pritzker teamed with Mike Madigan and Lisa Madigan to help fund the failed Leading Illinois For Tomorrow (LIFT) PAC that spent nearly $10 million attacking Bruce Rauner in the lead up to the November elections.
“It’s clear that both Chris Kennedy and J.B. Pritzker will do whatever Mike Madigan wants. Pritzker and Kennedy combined to give to a failed Madigan front group $950,000 and thousands more to Madigan’s House candidates,” said Illinois Republican Party spokesman Steven Yaffe. “The only thing less surprising than wannabe governor candidates doing the Speaker’s bidding is Lisa Madigan pouring in $150,000 to help him. Lisa Madigan proved that she’ll do anything she can to help Mike Madigan protect the special interests and failed status quo. Springfield needs a shake up more than ever.”
Despite the Madigan-backed LIFT PAC spending close to $10 million this fall, Illinois Republicans still netted six seats in the Illinois legislature.
“The Madigan family and Chicago Democrat elite can spend all the money they want, but it won’t change the fact that Illinoisans want major reforms in Springfield,” Yaffe said. “Voters now know all the potential Democrat candidates for governor stand with Mike Madigan.”
Go read the rest if you want.
…Adding… Just noticed something at the link. Chris Kennedy gave $50,000 to the LIFT PAC while JB Pritzker gave $900,000. That’s the whole “money” argument for the primary in a nutshell.

I’m surprised Lisa Madigan would chip in $150k and that MJM would do $500k. Thought they’d have at least tried to maintain the appearance of some distance from this effort.

Sooner or later, everyone will make the website…
… and the governing will just stall to a stop.
I guess Yaffe wants some to laugh-ee at him?
- hisgirlfriday - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:21 am:
what took them so long to add Lisa?
- The Captain - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:22 am:
Devolving into parody.

The IL GOP has gone full James Carville:
Respond to everything within 24 hours.
This GOP ain’t your daddy’s Buick. That’s for sure.

@interesting
I don’t think any of this is done haphazardly or without forethought.
- Loop Lady - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:26 am:
Very disheartening…
- Loop Lady - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:27 am:
Maybe not…you go JB…
- JS Mill - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:29 am:
It is as brilliant as it is tiring and sleazy.
They are putting the MJM stink on anyone that may pose a threat to the gov.
The governors core will never tire of this but others might, time will tell.
- Arsenal - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:30 am:
I think “Because Madigan!” was probably on the whole a net-benefit to Republicans last month (at least in the five House seats and Forby’s race), but you do run the risk of turning it into just noise if you have a new press release every day adding every Democrat in the state to the list.
- illini - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:32 am:
This is almost becoming a sad, sad joke that will attempt to tie EVERY Democrat to MJM.
Can’t wait until Jesse White makes the list as well!
- Roman - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:38 am:
This is all a bunch of noise that only political geeks like us pay attention to.
However, I do think Lisa Madigan is in for a tough time in 2018. The negatives for her father have skyrocketed so much I don’t think she’ll be held harmless anymore.
- Give Me A Break - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:39 am:
Somewhere right now, there is fifth grader in Olney being added to the list due to their walking by the Speaker’s Office on field trip to the Statehouse.
- Publius - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:40 am:
failed? Rauner wasn’t on the ballot or doesn’t the GOP understand that?
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:47 am:
If they’re using LIFT as the basis for the attack, why not put Biss in the headline too?
- go sox - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:48 am:
Pardon the Seinfeld reference, but this has become the equivalent of the Hop Sing blacklist.
“…And now, you’re on our list!”
“She name name.”
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:49 am:
And are they calling out Lisa because they think she’s a potential Guv candidate or do they think the Madigan brand will get so bad over the next 23 months that they could defeat her for AG (assuming Rauner’s willing to spend $10 Million on that race on top of the $200 Million he’ll spend on his race & GA seats)
- Anon - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 10:51 am:
So… Everybody?
I wish Rauner had a personal twitter account.
- Publius - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:01 am:
I love how GOP makes the little bit spent by Dems compared to amount spent by GOP as bad.
If the 62 million spent by the governor since he took office were $1.00 bills stacked it would stack as tall as 11 Sears towers or end to end it would stretch from Chicago to Warsaw Poland
And they make the money that Madigan’s earned at his law firm out to horrible when the governor triples his income in 1 year.
That is like comparing a pro baseball players curveball to a little leaguers
But I haven’t seen much notes coverage on governor tripling his income
- Chicago Cynic - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:06 am:
Good luck trying to brand JB as a tool of MJM.
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:18 am:
Friends of Michael Madigan gave LIFT $500,000

So I don’t think the Speaker will be supporting Biss for Governor after the ROI he got on that investment.

Rauner wasn’t on the ballot. It’s about the long game.
Keep up, please.
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:23 am:
Would have been much better as a state SuperPAC so they didn’t have to ackwardly shoehorn Trump in there - if you’re going to blast Rauner, blast Rauner.
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:25 am:
Although a state SuperPAC would have had to declare the big checks as A-1’s within 2-5 days of receiving them, so maybe the trade off was hamhandedly tie Trump to Rauner in exchange for not having to reveal your donors until after the election.

Use the Google…
Biss declared who donated. Early.
What else ya got?

That’s totally bass ackward.
They formed a federal PAC precisely because they wanted to include Trump.

NEWS FLASH
Democrats are Democrats
- Grand Avenue - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 11:47 am:
I think Rich is right because the mail program & ground operation would have tied Trump & Rauner to the local candidate.
Willy’s “Long game theory” threw me off - it doesn’t make sense because everybody and their mother thought Trump would lose the election. No one would care that he sort of did sort of didn’t endorse Trump in 2018 if Trump lost and crawled back from whence he came.

Again, anything to keep Rauner upside down on his own numbers IS the long game. Did you see Rauner himself in big media buys endorsing, say, Michael McAuliffe?
Long game. Keep Rauner upside down.

This is a huge “what if?” But, what if Trump gains an enormous amount of popularity in the next 2 years and all that LIFT equity in tying Rauner to Trump actually benefits him?
Hey, the Cubs are WS Champs. Stranger things have happened. Lately.
- Old Timer Dem - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 1:40 pm:
Those LIFT attack commercials were poorly done. When I watched them I thought to myself, Is this the best they can do? A waste of money.
- Not It - Friday, Dec 9, 16 @ 2:01 pm:
Madigan thinks any dollar not given to him is wasted.

Old Timer Dem,
Completely agree. Those ads were pretty useless.

If Trump is that popular in 2 years, no Dem is going to beat Rauner, anyway.
