Drug dealers battling judge?

Monday, Apr 11, 2005 - Posted by Rich Miller

Is a judge under legal attack because of efforts by drug dealers? Sen. Chris Lauzen thinks so.

A state panel is “siding with criminals” in its complaint against Kane County Judge James Doyle, according to state Sen. Chris Lauzen, who has launched a petition drive demanding to know how much money is being spent prosecuting the case.

The 20-count complaint was filed in February by the Illinois Judicial Inquiry Board accusing Doyle of violating defendants’ constitutional rights and intimidating others involved with the county’s drug court program. […]

The complaint accuses Doyle, formerly presiding judge of the Kane County Drug Rehabilitation Court, of violating defendants’ rights and other actions that were “prejudicial to the administration of justice and conduct that brought the judicial office into disrepute.” His attorneys filed a response to the state panel’s complaint this week, denying the allegations. […]

A letter Lauzen has sent to local newspapers urges people to sign a petition to reprimand the JIB. His letter states the JIB is “spending tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars of your taxpayer money to side with convicted drug criminals and just five of their attorneys in trying to destroy Doyle and his work.” […]

“The question is, it is possible that some drug criminals would be willing to lie in Kane County about a judge’s conduct,” he said.

Anyone know anything else about this?

Not so much drug dealers as drug users.

As much as I hate to agree with Senator CPA, Judge Doyle is getting a bum deal here. Doyle does have a huge ego, but he should be commended for his drug court. Defense attorneys and their clients have been whining about Doyle for several years now. There may very well be some fire behind this smoke, but I’d say that the bottom line is Doyle’s getting flak for doing his job.

THE TRUTH REMAINS, JUDGE DOYLE HAS VIOLATED THE RIGHTS OF THESE OFENEDERS. HE HAS VIOLATED & HAS SENT MANY INNOCENT TO PRISION. HE HAS FORCED / INTIMDATED DEFENDANTS INTO HIS PROGRAM. I READ THE COMPLAINT & PERSONALLY HAVE DEALT WITH HIM. DRUG DEALERS DRUG USERS WHATEVER THEY ARE WHATEVER ANY ONE WANTS TO CALL THEM, THEY ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE ATTORNEYS PRESENT & HAVE THIER RIGHTS. JUDGE DOYLE HAS VIOLATED THIER RIGHTS. IT HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY THE COURT REPORTERS. I SUGGUST YOU READ THE COMPLAINT, MAYBE YOU WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND.

Don’t know about this specific case, but Doyle used to preside over serious criminal cases and let many offenders completely off the hook. Take, for example the case of Kevin Willing who only served 3 years of a 10 year sentence for beating a 4 year old child to death. If Doyle goes down, I won’t shed a tear, and I don’t frankly care why. He’s done plenty of damage as a judge and should not be on any bench.

I agree that he has done plenty of damage as a judge.. A judge should be fair. Not pick and chose his favorites because someone has gotton on his good side. I bet that is what Kevin Willing did “get on his good side” So he gets let off. That is not what our legal system should be about. He needs to be taken off of the bench for good & fired. He has not followed the laws & rules he is supposed to. They complain & say that lawyers are upset because thier buisness is being taken away. If you go & take a look at the records 85% of the peoplo in drug court did not have attorneys from the start. All public defenders. So lets get our facts straight.

Judge Doyle made serious mistakes. He has been in the law enforcement field for years serving on different sides of the spectrum. He KNOWS the laws and he disregarded them anyways. He was out of control, I witnessed it as a community liaison. The sad thing is that since he’s left drug court has gone down hill.

Drug dealers did not battle Judge Doyle.

The Kane County Bar Association battled judge Doyle, for failure to uphold the rights of every citizen under the laws of the constitution of the United States.
“Doyle does have a big ego”,
“Defense attorneys and their clients have been whining about Doyle for several years now”
Have they been whining about judge Doyle, or have they been whining about the violation of their constitutional rights that are stripped from them in his courtroom?
There is no room in a court of law for ego. There is no room in a court of law for a grandstanding judge who is on a mission to change the law, because this mission is so personally important to him.
    A judge doesn’t have the power,nor
does he have the right to change the law. And if a judge is trying to, we must all ask ourselves why?
If every judge in this country acted with the same misconduct judge Doyle has been openly displaying for years now in his courtroom, our legal system would totally crumble and justice will be gone forever.
