First GOP debate
Thursday, Jan 12, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller
We’ll get our first view of the candidates together in two weeks.
The first televised debate among the four Republicans vying for their party’s gubernatorial nomination is set for Naperville and will center on business-oriented issues.
Candidates state Sen. Bill Brady, former state board of education Chairman Ron Gidwitz, dairy magnate Jim Oberweis and state Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka are scheduled to square off in the one-hour forum at 6 p.m. Jan. 25 at North Central College. […]
The candidates will field about 20 questions from a media panel and business leaders in attendance. Topics likely to be raised by Naperville-area business people include health care, taxation and education, said Laura Crawford, the chamber’s vice president of marketing and legislative communications.
CBS-2 plans to televise the event.
Use this as a Republican primary open thread.

Of course it will survive if the lege can’t stop it, but it will come back to haunt him. Either Eisendrath or the Republicans will use it in a TV spot questionning Blago’s credibility — the SBC bill, business as usual, and gambling expansion. It may be a Phyrric victory

Four candidates…one hour…about 20 questions? Somehow the math is not working for me. I doubt all four can finish their opening statements in under an hour.

They’ll be ok Bluefish, it’s not like the democrats on the senate judiciary committee over the past 3 days.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the Cook County GOP convention being held this weekend in Rosemont?
Anything to keep an eye out for?
Would it be worth the money ($59 for both session) for Republicans to attend?
- PS - Thursday, Jan 12, 06 @ 2:45 pm:
Please, I beg you, don’t give Gary Skoien your $59!!!
- Bubs - Thursday, Jan 12, 06 @ 2:55 pm:
According to Cook GOP, nearly 300 have signed up, and they expect 400-500 total. Not bad at all.
- PS - Thursday, Jan 12, 06 @ 5:19 pm:
Who knew there were that many chumps in Cook Co willing to give Skoien their hard earned money…the only value they’ll get is if he’s voted out.
- Bubs - Thursday, Jan 12, 06 @ 5:43 pm:
PS - don’t hold your venom-laced breath on that, from what I can see.
- Bubs - Thursday, Jan 12, 06 @ 5:50 pm:
PS - I called Cook GOP. They say there are now over 350+ signed up, and they expect 500+ attending.
