Little Lip hit again

The controversy over Dan Lipinski’s voting history is heating up.
A challenger to U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski on Wednesday asked for an investigation into alleged inconsistencies in Lipinski’s voting record, but the lackluster response has his campaign talking about possible lawsuits.
John Sullivan, a Cook County prosecutor, wants an investigation into why Chicago Board of Elections voting records show Lipinski voting in Illinois for more than a decade while he was known to live out of state.
“Either Dan Lipinski voted here illegally or someone voted for him,” Sullivan said in a statement.
Lipinski’s office said the issue is of no importance to voters.
If Sullivan had any money at all he might be able to make it a race. But a lack of funds and a possible ringer in the race to siphon away anti-incumbent votes, has to leave Little Lip breathing easier.
This is an Illinois congressional campaign open thread.

His people said this issue is of no importance to voter? Are you kidding me? I’m in his district and I can tell you that is important to me, and should be to others. I wasn’t too thrilled when he “replaced” his dad on the ticket, but this just irritates me. How is it that he can get away being in another state, and I was forced to vote provisional last election (and it didnt count) bcuz I moved two houses down the street and didnt update my address in time. Anyone know how he cast his vote - absentee or in person?
I dont know the other people running, but you can bet they’ll be getting a check from me today.

I don’t think Big or Lil Lip have faced this kind of controversy in a long time, hence the embarassing public response. I don’t get a sense this is going to go away. And, yes, someone needs to look into this. If it were no issue, Junior would have had a straight story and offered to produce his signatures from those ballots. What’s to hide?

This reprehensible. How much more nonsense are we going to put up with from the Lipinski camp? We need answers here…

We need one of the two contenders to drop out. John Kelly / John Sullivan are just going to split the anti-Lip vote and neither will come close. Even if they get out it probably is a lost cause anyway. Madigan’s 13th, Lips 23rd, Daley’s 11th,Murphy’s 18th and Viverito’s township will probably deliver enough votes to cover the pissed off voters in the Joyce/O’Shea 19th and Worth township. Too bad.

The Suntimes had an article that implies that John Kelly is a Lipinski plant. Don’t look for him to drop out…

Hey Rich,
As this is an open thread, who do you rank as the top IL challengers, not for open seats, but for contested ones. Anyone?

what’s really wrong with the plant strategy?
not eveyone can win on their good looks alone
- The Lipster - Friday, Feb 3, 06 @ 2:58 pm:
This issue is only going to get bigger. Sullivan has to continue to put pressure on little Lip to provide some answers. As a former prosecutor, I’m guessing Sullivan understands how to make that happen. If you don’t have much money you need media — and this has the potential of turning into a big media story.

Voters need to stand up, since our local politicians on the southwest side are not doing much for us. Too many to mention…
Yes, we got a bad deal with the father putting the son. I’m not an attorney, but to me it sounds illegal if he did not live in Illinois for the past 10 years. Kelly drop out and let Sullivan win this race.
Kelly are you really put there by the Lipinski campaign??? Put your comment on this blog

The American public, including voters in the 3rd CD, are tired of the congress working for mega-corporate American CEO’s/CFO’s instead of honest hard working Americans. The Dem machine’s placement of Li’l Lip in office started the corrupt ball rolling. The possible voter fraud disclosed is consistent with this corrupt pattern of bypassing the Democratic election process.
L’il Lips views and voting record are inconsistent with the hard working values of the 3rd CD and America. His stands iclude Don’t-down-size-troops-in Iraq-until-the insurgency-is-over, Vote for federal court interference in the Terry Shiavo case, and solution to the health care crisis is to have max $3000 Health Care Savings Accounts.
The voters like John Sullivan and the word is spreading.
