    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Illinois Committee for Honest Government has voted to rescind and withdraw its endorsement of Congressman Daniel William Lipiski (3rd) in his bid to seek re-election, in response to the Congressman’s support of H.R. 4437, the controversial immirgration bill that the ICHG termed as “barbaric.” An ICHG spokesman said that H.R. 4437, if enacted into law in the form supported by Lipinski, “would turn a huge portion of the residents of Lipinski’s district, people whose work is a vital part of the economic engine of his community, into instant criminals.”

The ICHG has instead given its endorsement in the March 21 Democratic Primary to financial planner John T. Kelly of Oak Lawn.

In another late action, the ICHG has voted to endorse banker Alexander (Alexi) Giannoulias of Chicago for the Democratic nomination at State Treasurer. In its endorsement letter, the ICHG stated that the election of Giannoulias “would give the people of the State of Illinois someone who has a banking background in the office of State Treasurer, rather than another politician who seeks the post as a convenient stepping-stone for their future political career.”

The Illinois Committee for Honest Government was founded in 1986 to work for a variety of reforms and to promote increased responsiveness in all levels and branches of government. The complete list of the ICHG’s endorsements for the March 21, 2006 Illinois Primary Election follows:

  2. - Coloradem - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 4:50 pm:

Not sure if this has hit the news in Chicago, but it is getting pretty good play out here in the Rocky Mountain State. Our favorite race bating member of Congress, Tom Tancredo had an altercation with your Rep. Luis Gutierrez. Here is a link:

  3. - Pat Hickey - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 5:25 pm:

It’s a golden age of political giants: Tancredo v. Gutierrez reminicent of Palmerston and Gladtsone/Churchill and Stanley Baldwin - the wit flow from exchange as intellectual dreadnaughts salvo barbs and japes over the tempestuous water of discource.
‘You’re a rascist’ Nu Uh, You’re the racist a bigger racist than anyone.

    O Tempora! O Morons!

  4. - Marta Elena - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 5:42 pm:

Good to see Topinka out in the areas affected by the tornado.

oohhh!! beer blogging! how exactly does that work?

  5. - Anon - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 5:54 pm:

    Hey Rich -
The link to blogo skipping out on Don & Roma doesn’t seem to work.

  6. - wndycty - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 8:14 pm:

Do Don Wade and Roma realize that the Governor had to go to Springfield as a result of the tornado. I was listening to them Monday morning and they and their listeners were ragging on him for not showing. Did these self important dolts realize there was a tornado in Springfield. Could you imagine the outcry had Rod stayed in Chicago to do the Don Wade and Roma show?

  7. - James T Kirk - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 10:46 pm:

yeah wndycty, it would have been real hard for Rod to call into WLS on His way to Springfield to talk to Don Wade and Roma and the audience. Good Move Mr Governor

  8. - Reddbyrd - Friday, Mar 17, 06 @ 11:13 pm:

Let’s see GRod went to SPI on Monday and it took until Friday for anyone to notice that he missed a show. Hmmmmm not too potent a audience

  9. - wndycty - Saturday, Mar 18, 06 @ 6:42 am:

    To: James T. Kirk
    CC: Reddbyrd

There was an emergency in Springfield that needed the Governor’s attention, but to Reddbyrd’s point do you think he lost many votes by not talking to the “progressive, open minded, tolerant” listeners of Don Wade and Roma? Give me a break its WLS for heaven’s sake?

  10. - Anonymous - Saturday, Mar 18, 06 @ 7:34 am:

Oberweis just can’t help himself and his campaign is just plain poorly-run:
