Thanks for the news, Rich. Now I can go to bed. I’m a Democrat who is looking forward to voting for Judy in the fall instead of Rod Boy. Glad I’ll have that chance.
I was the Youth Director for Jim Oberweis and I thank him and the staff for alowing me to serve in this position. Many 19 year olds don’t have the opportunity to run statewide youth campaigns, but I did and Jim was very well received at schools across the state.
There will always be tomorrow. The sun will rise, but as for now, homework calls!
That shows how much you know about Jim. At the unity breakfast in March 2004 Jim was the MOST gracious of any of the losing candidates. He whipped out a check for Jack Ryan’s campaign right there on the spot. On the flip side, candidate Andy McKenna, now our state party chairman, was visibly pouting and huffing in the back of the room. And how did Judy and her cronies re-pay Jim’s gracious, unifying attitude? They nominated Crazy Alan Keyes.
Three-time loser and every time the first runner up. I think the party rank-and-file is sending him a message. Will he receive it?

Just remember, “Second Place is the first loser”
At least he had the good graces to concede. Good Riddance! JBT 2006

If Obie had run the polka ad starting earlier he would have beaten her. Bad move to hold it ’til the end, not enough time for the message to sink it. Of course, what can we expect from a man who does nothing but lose expensive statewide races.
I am sure that Rod’s people are working on their own version right now so it will be ready to go the day after the verdict. They are smart enough not to blow that chance.

Why? How? There are so many uncounted votes! Including mine!
- YNM - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 1:06 am:
“why”
… as well as he did (better than i, for one, expected) the votes that are left are more than likely not enough to get him past JBT
“how”
… i suspect he picked up the phone and dialed … but that’s just me guessing …
- Lincoln Lounger - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 1:09 am:
I’m sure he’ll announce his candidacy for U.S. Senate or President tomorrow at the GOP Unity event.

The question is…can Oberweis swallow his pride and agree to be John Cox’s presidential running mate in ‘08?
- Anon - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 1:43 am:
Who are the 6,000 wackos who voted for Andy Martin?
- Anonymous - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 1:58 am:
What did he call her this time?

Heard Stroger is up by 20,000 with 70% in? Some precients have had their votes impoundned(sp?). If they are from Chicago he is in.

Try again. That was Syverson and Rauschenberger, not Topinka.

TJ is right.. that was the other guys, not Topinka she had no control as State Party Chair!
Give me a break!

Bravo to Dick Kay. He left on a barnburner of a race, and at 2:30 am, after signing off of Channel 5, is on WGN radio.

goodbye politics of big smiles and hypocritical attacks on everyone from one’s opponents to the vulnerable undocumented workers who clean his stores!
- Norseman - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 7:18 am:
Good riddance, Obie! Don’t come back again.
- DOWNSTATE - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 7:21 am:
Did Obie say he wanted to help unify the party or just set at home eat ice cream and pout.

I think JBT should expect the same loyalty from the rank and file that Peter Fitzgerald got from her.

Obie is the McRib of the Illinois GOP dollar menu. He’ll be back, again, for a limited time only. Until then, enjoy the buyer’s remorse.
- ISU REP - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 3:21 pm:
I guess JBT won’t be getting complimentary Ice Cream from the Obie Dairy….
- AndyMartin - Wednesday, Mar 22, 06 @ 10:18 pm:
Good thing the Oberweis signs were dry-erase board this time, we have to get to work! There is a Senate race around the corner.
