Gee, I wonder where Fran Spielman got the idea for that story?
The mayor may hope to be judged on his entire record, and not just the last four years, but that’s rarely the way the electorate works. Most folks attitude is “What have you done for me lately?”
According to an extensive poll by NIU, only 23% of Chicagoans rate their public schools positively. In every other region of the state, that number is 60% or better.
The 1995 Chicago school reform was a double-edged sword for Daley. He got well-deserved accolades at the time for being willing to step up to the plate. Ten years later, it’s time to measure his impact.
If people can remember how bad schools were in 1995 and actually think they’ve improved significantly since then, good for Daley. I think the reason Luis Guitierrez has said he will make education his top issue if he runs is that he knows the public is not hppy.

Mark Brown needs either a hearing aid, a thesaurus or an attitude adjustment. Peraica said “scrimmaging” not [skirmishing]. Assuming his last name hasn’t been anglicized it’s a safe bet to assume that Brown comes from a long line of people that spoke some version of English and he’s a writer to boot. Maybe the SunTimes can pop for a Thesaurus or sensitivity training.

Daleys future non-fundraising………
Would you want to donate to somebody and get a summons to appear in front of a grand jury ??
the feds should look at past bribes…I mean “donations” and see how many of them were given jobs or Favors. licences, zoning, contracts…etc.

I agree with Mark Brown on two fronts: 1) Peraica said “scrimmishing” and 2) Peraica is a clown.
