Question of the day
Thursday, Sep 14, 2006 - Posted by Rich Miller I have a bunch of mailers that I need to upload, but until then here’s your question… You may have noticed the news feed in the center column about Treos and Blackberries. I put that there because so many of my subscribers spend a lot of time on the road, particularly during session, and many of them have those gadgets, as do I. I want to do a little more along these lines, perhaps bring somebody in to do a regular post on technology and gadgets. I scan through several tech/gadget sites/blogs during the course of the week, but I’m wondering if you have a favorite site.

Slashdot, Slashdot, Slashdot…although some of their posts can be off-topic/geekiness.
I also like Ars Technica, Major Geeks and Extreme Tech as sites.

Use Bill O’Brien (ex “Bill” of “Alice and Bill”; ex Computer Shopper” columns)
Web address is “TechNudge”, which is Bill’s blog.

Guy’s a true techie, and can put it down in English.

A good “introduction” to gadgets can be had through pcmagazine.com; cnet.com; technetonline.com There are many that are more geek style techie but these help set the standards of gadgets through trials and reviews.

Couple sites that I think are good for tech and politics.

Dem internet consulting firm that posts occassionally on the tech side, not the partisan.
Think this one is non-partisan, but not sure. Big fan of the site and they focus a lot on mobile technology.

Just bought a Blackberry Saturday. Managed to sync my contacts and schedule from my PC. I am very happy about this.
Getting online with the Blackberry seems a lot of work for me, a Mac user. How the @#*&$#@! do you type your passwords onto this thing without wondering if you did it right?
Maybe next week I’ll be happy with the online features. This week has been a challenge.

I like expert geeks to do the testing for me and read their results. I like CNET for a synopsis of the latest and greatest.
