On behalf of all the working men and women of Illinois, I just want to give a quick shout out to SEIU. The champions of a living wage backed Republicans Aaron Schock, Ruth Munson, Sid Mathias and Don Moffitt in the General Election.
Schock, Munson, Mathias and Moffitt all returned the favor by voting against the minimum wage increase, which had no organized opposition.

YDD -
No organized opposition? The Retail Merchants and business community opposed it. The United Food and Commercial Workers opposed it to the end.
Secondly, groups and associations, determine to support or oppose candidates based on a range of issues and votes.

A big thumbs down to the pay raises for the legislators and “high ranking officials.” Having said that, I do believe they should receive a raise at some point, but only when the state can afford it - that means when we pay our bills and balance the budget. Shame on them for not voting for this in the Spring and waiting until after the election. We need strong leaders who should look out for the interests of the state and Illinois citizens, not people looking out for their own personal interests. Enjoy your 15.5%. I won’t forget this in the next election - not a very good start guys and gals….

There should be a discussion on the torture (including electrocution of male genitalia by Commander Jon Burge of the Chicago Police Department), suffocating prisoners with typewriter covers, food and light deprivation, Russian roullete.
This discussion on torture should also include a discussion on Mayor Richard M. Daley and State’s Attorney Richard Devine. This really is the epitome of racism, brutality, and cover up.
The City that works does not work for all.

How fast can Lisa Madigan announce she’s running for gov so she can take out this furry-headed fluffball that we’re currently stuck with?
Oh wait. We were supposed to keep it light. lol
I’ll change tone. Go Lisa!!!
- fedup dem - Friday, Dec 1, 06 @ 1:00 pm:
Angie, you kept it light. After all, you called that cretin in the Governor’s office a “furry-headed fluffball” instead of something like Gov. Sleazy.

Rich,
No power, I wonder if Ameren was doing a blackout test run?
If Ameren dumps its contracotrs and their lineman and then dumps 25% of their in house employees, which includes many lineman, I wonder how an ice storm restoration will go if it happens in the future?
Oh well I guess MJM and Emil will still be trying to show who has the biggest set of… while we all wait for something productive to happen on the electric rate issue.

YDD, Moffitt had no opposition in the primary or general. An SEIU endorsement made absolutely no difference. If Halstead would get off his lazy, SOS bureaucratic butt to be a county party chairman, then the democrats wouldn’t have this problem. But since it seems that the only job of the county party leader is to recieve patronage, then let the good times roll for the GOP in Peoria!!!

I have nothing to add, because I’ve been bogged, not blogged, down in almost a foot of snow, and got stuck working 16 hours yesterday because people couldn’t make it to work.
Rich, I need to know how to get those memos to you….Tessa

Funny how a lot of the State of Illinois buildings were hit with power outages after the snow storm and then we get a press release from the governor honoring World Aids Day by “dimming the lights” in the Capital and other state buildings…Are we going to get a press release from his office taking credit for all of the snow too? Maybe not that “snow”…..
