Kevin, didn’t Paul teach you? The only way you’re going to make it in this business is if you include Rich’s Sun-Times stories in the Morning Shorts.
Today Rich blames just about everybody. LOL.
- Rich Miller - Friday, Jan 11, 08 @ 9:42 am:
Morning Shorts doesn’t include the stories that will get their own posts. Broken should know that by now.

I live near a section of I-94 that has had construction for about the past five months,
northern Lake Co. A section that is about five miles long is being widened, and it has several signs which state, “Construction zone, speed limit 45 M.P.H., fines $375 minimum.” However, I noticed that almost all of the cars are being driven at least 50 M.P.H. I’ve never seen any police officers give any tickets, in that area. If the highway patrol enforced the laws, by pulling over the majority of the speeders, the state probably wouldn’t have a budget problem.

The Cook Co. States Attny race is turning very interesting. It seems like people see Milan as the frontrunner, because he’s always defending himself. I don’t understand why he’s defending Devine if Devine won’t endorse him.
Devine was 1st asst under Daley when all the tortures happened. Milan wasn’t there. I think I would rather have him be the SA than any of these other machine hacks. The same for Alvarez. Neither of them has any backing, so they’re independant.

Rich, what no link to your paper’s op ed
piece by Gloria Steinem in yesterday’s
Sun Times?(Jan 10) Doesn’t that belong under
Obamarama? Perhaps I missed it on this site,
but it was in the New York Times also, and,
was quite interesting.
- Mad as Hell - Friday, Jan 11, 08 @ 11:24 am:
Good point Matlock. Milan is in a tough situation. He has to defend Devine’s policies but Devine isn’t endorsing him. Milan is being attacked for the Burge cases even though he was in college at the time. Devine needs to step up and say this was my office and my policies, otherwise he really is stabbing Milan in the back.
- Rich Miller - Friday, Jan 11, 08 @ 11:27 am:
Amy, the Sun-Times is not “my paper.” I just write for them occasionally.
- SLICK - Friday, Jan 11, 08 @ 4:52 pm:
Devine needs to pick a candidate. Enough of just going to all of Bob Milans’ fundraisers, makes speaches praising Milan while at the event and then sitting on the fence once he leaves the event.
By Devines silence just shows the amount of loyalty he has for the office, by not letting the voters know who he thinks is the right person for the position. So it is a free for all as it stands now.
Milan knows the office and lives and breaths the office. Milan will not use the office as a stepping stone as the other candidates will attempt to do.
