Sorry, kids. I was giving a speech and it went way long and I just got back.

Talk amongst yourselves, but try to be pleasant. Thanks.

Code for working off a hangover?

  2. - Levois - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 10:08 am:

What should I talk about? Hmm, how about those Bears?

  3. - phocion - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 10:08 am:

I wouldn’t want to have a hangover and listen to one of Rich’s speeches. (oops…was that not “nice?”) :)

Whew, We were worried about ya :)

Thank God, maybe the shakes will subside for me in a few minutes :)

When, oh when we will get action or a straight answer of the funding restoration? Don’t the historic site cuts go into effect next Friday?

  6. - Levois - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 10:19 am:

Not a long time between this open thread and the morning shorts. :-P

Rich, any comments on the Wyma subpeona that
    was reported in the Tribune?

  8. - Speaking At Will - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 10:21 am:

You should have seen me this morning refreshing Cap Fax and trying to figure out what was going on.

In my nervous state I have already smoked half a carton of cigarettes and have my “relaxing sounds of nature” cd playing in the background waiting for some content.

  9. - Disturbed - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 10:23 am:

I lost track on the cuts. I do know “Education is a #1 priority for Illinois” according to Rod’s people. If this is true then why did Illinois School for the Deaf and Illinois school for the Visually Impaired loose 3% of their total budget including layoffs of educational staff and elimination of vital programs? Come on!!!??? Picking on Blind and Deaf kids??? Thats gotta be political suicide!

Somone call the Governor! We have a significant spike in tax revenues that will allow us to keep the parks open! And it’s all thanks to Rich being busy, and Rich is busy because of the Gov, so the Gov deserves the credit!

  11. - Irish - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 11:03 am:

I do not believe the restoration will ever happen. The Feds sent a letter, should be on the Gov’s desk, that $50 million of the $230 million cannot be touched. They are warning that it is off limits.

  12. - Downstate weed chewing hick - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 11:40 am:

What’s the basis for Feds’ authority to designate $50 million of state money being untouchable? I am ignorant of these turf battles.

  13. - Loop Lady - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 12:24 pm:

Does anyone else besides me think an election night gathering @ Grant Park for Barack is an idea that could go sideways in an instant based on what the outcome of the election for Prez is and a crowd of 250,000 people?…

  14. - Deeda - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 12:42 pm:

I think Barack should give the money he is using for the party to help families, and not tax them for it. That would help him since he is planning on raising taxes. Let me revise that. He will give tax credits but you will tax on that credit.

  15. - Shelbyville - Thursday, Oct 23, 08 @ 3:35 pm:

Why does Barack like to stand out in the suffering heat and freezing cold?

Grant Park is really, really nice at 10pm.
