Blagojevich: I am innocent

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich released the following statement, via the PR firm that represents him, responding to the indictment announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois:
“I’m saddened and hurt but I am not surprised by the indictment. I am innocent. I now will fight in the courts to clear my name. I would ask the good people of Illinois to wait for the trial and afford me the presumption of innocence that they would give to all their friends and neighbors.”
The PR firm representing the governor, The Publicity Agency, will send out alerts and advisories as developments warrant.
The governor is not in Chicago and will not be doing any interviews. He is spending family time with his wife and kids during spring break. They ask that you respect their privacy.

Sorry Rod man, the ASAs on this case are not as incompetent as you were as an attorney. No, you’re really guilty, man. Go ahead and watch it play out. Your case is now one for those law books you never read.

Sorry, AUSAs

The presumption of innocence applies to our judicial system - the court, judge, lawyers, jurors. Personally, to me, he is guilty as sin!

Who said this,” I didn’t have anything to do with it. Would I have tolerated it ? Hell no, I wouldn’t tolerate it. Not in a second would I have put up with that had I known it was going on… To say, I was responsible personally for it – absolutely unfair.“
If you guessed Blagojevich’s predocessor as indicted governor, George Ryan, you are so right. Birds of a feather sleep in cells together.

Much as I love the gutter the Chicago Democrats have put us back into, it is really beyond time to start asking why the ILGOP isn’t capitalizing on this and what’s being done from the right. I would hope the media could find time to cover the actual Republican party in addition to the Obama Democrats, Daley Democrats, Madigan Democrats, Blago Democrats, and Jailbound Democrats.

If he is able to shake down a hospital for children he is without a soul. Gacy always claimed he was innocent and Rod is just as out of it. Glad he is gone, I hope his friends he put in power soon leave as well. Gov Quinn needs to do the clean up he promised. Get rid of the felons and thieves Rod put in place.

I just read Burris’ statement on the indictment. What is he smoking? Roland, your name will be mentioned often enough in the next several months - no one will forget you are a senator but I think you would be best served by not reminding everyone Rod appointed you.

Presumption of innocence: highly overrated concept in real life even for friends and neighbors. Sorry Rod, but the “I am innocent” well is poisoned.

“I’m innocent.” Yeah and I’m Tinkerbell. Just wait and see how innocent he is when all of his sycophants realize how he played them for Patsy’s.

What will IL. do without Bill Cellini? I was just thinking how hard his father worked to build his business and what good guys Billy and Frank were. Sad.

Sorry, Rod, but I, as an individual, would not accord any old “neighbor” the presumption of innocence. I am entitled to think what I may about any of my “neighbors”, and that will be governed by how they conduct themselves.
It is the duty of the jury who will try you to adhere to the presumption of innocence, and not the duty of Joe Citizen. I think you have already been tried and found guilty in that court, the court of the “neighborhood”.

Go om a trip and look at what I missed…
Reporter: “Rod Blagojevich you’ve been indicted, what are you going to do?”
Rod: “I’m going to Disney World…”
Seriously, I thought Patti was gonna take the reporter out at first. That girl is tough.
