Absolutely fabulous

* This has to be one of most hilarious things I’ve read in a very long time.
From the publisher’s description of Rod Blagojevich’s new book over at Amazon…
Product Description
THE GOVERNOR provides the most comprehensive look to date at the life of a twice-elected public official in the notoriously complicated world of Illinois politics. We take a tour through the segregated neighborhoods of Chicago, a city of great ethnic diversity, and see firsthand how those divides can evolve into cabals that rival anything found on the national political scene.
We follow the governor as he is awakened early one morning – his young daughter sleeping peacefully beside him – and unceremoniously arrested by FBI agents without knowing the charges being brought against him. We see the harsh glare of the spotlight, the media whirlwind already staking out his home and family, rushing to judgment before even the governor himself knew what crimes he’d been accused of committing. We follow him through the maze of political conspiracies that threaten to unseat and impeach the governor of the fifth largest state in the U.S. – forces brought to light by the ambition of an attorney general and the greed of her Democratic State Party Chairman father – as well as the zeal of a federal prosecutor and the manipulations of a disloyal lieutenant governor.
The behind-the-scenes workings to fill the Senate seat vacated by the most popular President-elect in decades becomes something much more incendiary when wiretapped conversations are used by authorities to commit the arrest. But, as the governor soon learns, those tapes are not allowed to be played at his impeachment hearings in the House or Senate. What is on those tapes? And why will the prosecution not let them be heard if they were the primary factor in initiating the arrest that started this political scandal in the first place?
Quoting from sources as diverse as Jim Wallis’ God’s Politics to Aeschylus , Shakespeare to The Purpose Driven Life, THE GOVERNOR provides not just an inside look at politics on a state and national level but a treatise on the proper place of government in the everyday lives of its people.
It is a mandate for healthcare reform, which the governor feels is the civil rights issue of our lifetime. It is a clarion cry, remarkably, against cynicism in modern governing and a return to a more thoughtful and informed sense of government that views its state budgets as “moral documents.” It is a lament against the current state of the political landscape, one that too often is wracked by scandal and interwoven with a media-driven culture obsessed with scandal and snap judgments.
And it is a proclamation that one man will not be silenced, that his side of the story must be heard and that the fight for American liberties and freedom must sometimes occur within its own borders.
What a freaking crock.
…Adding… It gets even better…
The book, according to an advertisement in The New York Times Book Review on Sunday, “pulls the curtain back on the shadowed world of politics and exposes the conspiracies and transgressions that so often compromise the basic tenet of American life: with liberty and justice for all. It is a proclamation that the governor’s side of the story must be heard. And that the fight for American liberties and freedom must sometimes occur within its own borders.”
An image of the book’s jacket in that ad states: “At last, the truth behind the political scandal that continues to rock the nation.”
The truth from Rod Blagojevich? Really? This I gotta see.

Im not that old, and the heart of the real civil rights movement came during that time. That quote, even if it were otherwise true, doesnt even make temporal sense. But that aside, isnt it likely that Blago knows of some actual skeletons of his rivals, or at least actual enough for the press and political opponents to jump on? This could get really really nasty in a hurry.

Forget the book. For 5 bucks more you can get it on audio read by Rod himself. To really appreciate the insanity, you have to hear it from his lips.

OK, I think the word “cry” is correct, but everything else in this sentence is utter nonsense to those of us who know him and watched him operate for the last decade. Rod was the personification of cynicism. Still is.

Call me crazy, but I doubt that MJM shared much with RRB or did any crooked deals with the guy.
I’m sure we’ll see lots of conspiracy theories, however. Whether any of them are even close to being sane doesn’t look all that promising, judging by the PR so far.

It’s really instructive to look at Amazon’s “Customer who bought related items” for Rod’s new book….So what do inquiring Blago minds read???….there’s two Natalie Wood bio books, then “Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson” but the best one is “The Zookeeper’s Wife: A War Story”….Since the early buys are mostly “Friends and Family,” what an interesting selection of reading material…..

Really just amazing. Suggesting that Pat Quinn was somehow “disloyal” to the psychopath Rod is so ridiculous as to make it reasonable to suggest that of the four allegations about Lisa, MJM, the U.S. Attorney and Gov. Quinn, each successive slander seems somehow more outrageous than the last.

It seems to me that few people in Illinois will want to read this book, except possibly for its “entertainment” value only. However, there are about 290 million people in 49 other states to whom this story may still be somewhat new and they may end up generating most of the sales.
If Blago attempts to include some dirt on Obama or any of his associates, you can bet the far right wing crowd will seize upon this story as further “proof” that Obama is just another corrupt Chicago pol and that Blago was forced out of office to “protect” him. (And I say that as a conservative myself, who didn’t vote for Obama, but NOT because of his middle name, alleged place of birth, or any supposed connection to Blago.)

My Greatest Love Of All
I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them vote for me
Show them all the beauty I possess inside
Give them this book of pride, it can’t be easier
Let the pundit’s laughter remind us how I used to be
Everybody searching for a hero
People need someone to look up to
Even The Cubs can’t fulfill my needs
Lunacy is a lonely place to be
So I learned to depend on me
Chorus:
I decided long ago, never to walk in Madigan’s shadows
So I failed, and was impeached
At least I always over reached
No matter what they take from me
They can’t take away my dignity
Because the greatest love of all
Is happening to me
I found the greatest love of all
Inside of me
The greatest love of all
Is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself
It is the greatest love of all
I believed I could deal with Burris
A Trailblazer that would lead the way
An empty mausoleum with nothing inside
He’d listen to me and make it easier
I’d be a union president in Washington DC
Chorus
And if by chance, you read my book
You see a new place I’m living at
Working as a prison cook
All because Madigan is a rat!
