Rauner makes “Top 10″ robocall list
Friday, Oct 31, 2014 - Posted by Rich Miller
* From the New York Times…
NoMoRobo, a free service, allows VOIP customers to sign up to block political robocalls, which get around the national “Do Not Call List” because they fall under the nonprofit clarification.
The service’s founder, Aaron Foss, put together a list for First Draft of the top 10 offenders:
* The list…
No. 1: Presidential Coalition (an affiliate of the nonprofit conservative group Citizens United).
No. 2: N.R.A.
No. 3: Crossroads GPS (founded by Karl Rove).
No. 4: Democrats for Senator Mark Warner and John Foust (a House candidate in Virginia).
No. 5: Newt Gingrich Tax Policy Center.
No. 6: National Committee for Family, Faith and Prayer (a Citizens United affiliate).
No. 7: Citizens United.
No. 8: Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin.
No. 9: Larry Hogan, Republican nominee for governor in Maryland.
No. 10: Bruce Rauner, Republican nominee for governor in Illinois.

Can’t believe Rauner only came in at #10.
- Mighty M. Mouse - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:44 am:
Where are all of the left-leaning groups?
Do people only want to block Republicans?
- Oswego Willy - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:44 am:
“We’re #10!”
@FakeBruceRauner - I will bully everyone with phone calls, bury you with voice mails, ruin your family…dinners. #BullyPhone
- Frenchie Mendoza - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:45 am:
Surely a failure. One of many Rauner failures, actually.
Obviously, a “success” in this context is #1.
- Norseman - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:46 am:
Raunervich needs to step it up. He’s behind his hero from the north.
- How Ironic - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:46 am:
I believe it.
- RNUG - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:46 am:
At least one of those other groups is also making calls for Rauner.
- William j Kelly - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:47 am:
Lord God, if you have ever heard me, hear me now, DELIVER US FROM RAUNER!
- Aldyth - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:48 am:
My hanging up finger has gotten quite a workout this season. I’ve grown to love caller ID.
- Wordslinger - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:48 am:
Dont believe in robocalls.
Is there anyone who doesn’t find the interruption of an unsolicited phone call with a recorded message annoying?
- Jeepster - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:49 am:
He’s calling because he remembered that he may have created a job yesterday after Quinn accomplished it.
- Bill White - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:50 am:
We don’t answer our home phone during political season unless we recognize the name / number on the called ID
Actually, we don’t answer our home phone - EVER - unless we recognize the name / number on the called ID

I hate Robocalls. Does anyone really think they are at all effective, even if they are cheap? I’ve always sworn I would vote against anyone foolish enough to robocall my home. Now, I see I’ve been doing just that all along. They are villans!
- Earl Shumaker - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:02 am:
Received a Rauner robocall last night. I think this makes the third one we have received. I guess the guy is desperate
- Streator Curmudgeon - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:05 am:
Diana Rauner: “He’s…honest…”
- Peoria Guy - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:13 am:
Quinn and Rauner are both desperate.
- Precinct Captain - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:14 am:
- Mighty M. Mouse - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 9:44 am:
Robocalls are not a very effective means of communication. Maybe Democrats and Democratic-aligned groups get that more than the GOP, save for these two Virginia suckers.
- DuPage Dave - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:17 am:
Sitting at home trying to watch game 7 or the world series I was amazed how many robo calls came in. Glad this show will be over Tuesday. Ugh.
- Carhart Representative - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:23 am:
I really think robocalls cost votes. Nobody likes to be interrupted, but instead of having a voice that you can vent too and then can steer you back to your support of their candidate, you’re left with nothing to do but hang up.
At least he didn’t drunk robodial

- the Patriot - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:29 am:
No matter what happens, next Wednesday Rauner will have 2 billion dollars and Quinn will have a 6 figure pension with health insurance for life.
Its the rest of us that are desperate. These two clowns are going to be fine.
Is it to late to settle this with an MMA match and use the PPV to pay pension debt?
- LIberty - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:31 am:
I assume this is a voluntary thing and they refuse to participate which makes them an offender and based on the number of calls makes them in the top ten. An offender is an offender.
- 47th Ward - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:41 am:
Republicans use robo calls more because they have to. Democrats have volunteers to make calls. Live callers are always more effective.
- Pot calling kettle - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 10:59 am:
==Robocalls are not a very effective means of communication. ==
Of course, if you have lots of extra money laying around, you have to do something with it…
- Carl Nyberg - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 11:03 am:
That robocalls are dominated by Right Wing politics & GOP may have to do with Dems and the Left being more virtuous, but a couple of other explanations seem more likely.
a. Robocalls don’t work particularly well and Democrats & Left tend to pay attention to reality.
b. As GOP & “Conservatism” becomes dominated by a small number of gazillionnaires, the Right has money for marginally effective techniques. And if Right Wing politics is about ripping-off people, what’s the shame in consultants ripping-off their sugar daddies?
It’s not that Dems and the Left are more moral. It’s that Republicans and the Right are less moral.
Once you’ve demonstrated your moral superiority by opposing abortion, God forgives you for everything else.
- VanillaMan - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 11:14 am:
Yeah - all GOP groups.
Why?
Well - there might be more GOP groups using this form of out reach.
The complainers are Democrats.
Democrats are still keeping their land line phones.
The robo-messages could be tactless and offensive.
The calls could be at bad times.
Democrats have more time to lodge complaints.
Democrats aren’t using this method of outreach.
Republicans aren’t complainers, (nah, but possible), than Democrats.
Republicans are at work, while Democrats aren’t.
Republicans enjoy robo-calls.
This is really a list which is meaningless - YES!
- circularfiringsquad - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 11:27 am:
10th ?
Another huge Mitt failure
If he had only been #1 he would have won …not
- WhoKnew - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 11:53 am:
I’ve gotten at least 10 robo calls this season from/for Rauner! OVERKILL!
A few less calls and steppin’ up to replenish that Church’s building fund would have got my vote.
#LeaningButUndecided
- cheryl44 - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 1:22 pm:
I haven’t gotten a robocall since I dumped my landline.
- RNUG - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 2:22 pm:
Unfortunately, some of them have found my cell phone in addition to my land line …
- DuPage - Friday, Oct 31, 14 @ 2:23 pm:
I have been getting about 4 Rauner robocalls per day and evening. I have been getting about one other call per day from various other candidates. So at this time Rauner is 400% of all others combined.
