  11. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:38 pm:

48-48-3 exit polling. That aint good for Rauner considering Quinn has a huge built in lead with early voting.

  12. - LA - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:40 pm:

    Shocking revelation!

  13. - Itsmyopinion - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:43 pm:

My dad is a downstate hardcore straight ticket voting Republican, comes from a long line of the same! He just admitted to voting for the libertarian for Gov! He said the other guys at the coffee shop “liars” table said they did the same, knew they were throwing their vote away but didn’t care because they didn’t like the other two candidates. I’m eager to see if this was a phenomen on my hometown only! Show us the numbers!

  14. - VanillaMan - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:45 pm:

    Here’s to another thirty years!
    May we never elect another!
    Long live Durbin!

Like Mac would say, “if I don’t do it, somebody else will.”

  17. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:51 pm:

Oberweis is getting better at running.

It was a whole two minutes before Durbin was declared winner.

  18. - anon - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:53 pm:

In other news I wonder if Topinka won

  19. - Kasich Walker, Jr. - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:03 pm:

Ron Majers at ABC 7 WLS-TV Chicago just said their exiting polling showed Quinn holding over 90% of AA vote in Chi.

  20. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:05 pm:

    - Kasich Walker -,

Percentage is good, plurality with percentage is best.

The turnout in Chicago might decide a great deal. No plurality, no cushion for downstate.

  21. - kimaye - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:13 pm:

so it’s official, Oberweis can still say he is not a career politician even though he is a career candidate. still not eating his ice cream.

  31. - Summer wind - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:53 pm:

It’s going to be very close

  32. - Anonymous 88 - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:53 pm:

What surprises me is that Shelia Simon is, at the moment, beating Topinka by a good margin: 52 to 43% with 44% of the vote counted, according to both the Sun-Times and Real Clear Politics. Those two sources also indicate that Quinn is running ahead of Rauner 54 to 44%. I expected Simon to do much poorer than Topinka, so I’m wondering if the precincts that have already been counted are mostly the ultimate Democratic stronghold, i.e., Cook Co. (Yeah, I know Simon is from southern Illinois, but that area is not all blue these days.) I’m guessing this means the night will only get messier for Quinn. Or am I reading these tea leaves all wrong?

  33. - Summer wind - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:54 pm:
