  1. - Lord Stanley's Cup - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:35 am:

Near western suburbs. Weathers good. Crowds light. No one passing out literature in front of polls.

  2. - Western Cook - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:42 am:

Higher EV & VBM turn out…higher turnout this AM as well. Many people look like they are on a mission headed to the polling place.

  3. - Kasich Walker, Jr. - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:47 am:

Kitchen table — pancakes & tea.

Garbage must be taken out before leaving.

  4. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:48 am:

When I get done golfing this morning …

Ok, neighbor texted me, 6:20 having snafu with equipment, slowing the voting.

  5. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:49 am:

Harwood heights…zero rauner signs at the four precincts I just put Quinn, madrigal, Durbin, white, Frerichs signs. I put door hangers out for Quinn but saw none for rauner.

  6. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:51 am:

At 6:30, 10 voted, which is right for first half hour

  7. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:52 am:

    Moylan door hangers out.

No signs of the vaunted GOP field operation working for Thillens.

  8. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:54 am:

Did someone forget to give Chip a wake-up call?

  9. - Edron - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:58 am:

Voted 6 AM in the far-far south suburbs, #12 and the line was going out the door when I left…

  10. - Jose Abreu's next homer - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 6:59 am:

Went to Jenner elementary school in Cabrini Green. Utter disaster in there. I was 3rd in line to vote, voter card in hand. People working the databases weren’t having a good day. I registered with my Chicago address 30 days ago. They found me as inactive. I took a seat for 20 mins while no one helped me. I finally sign some paperwork to do a provisional ballot. My vote won’t count today and I feel like I wasted my time. There were about 15/20 people in line after me. Average wait to see one of the two people behind the desk was about 8 mins. Growing pains! One lady working the desk kept saying she’s not tech savvy. She was correct. I got in line around 6:03. Left out of the exit at 6:38.

  11. - rwp - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:01 am:

    Cook, Bloom 2
I was the 10th ballot at 6:15am. All booths had voters in them - kind of busy for off year but not a record setter. No signs or passers

  12. - Rayne of Terror - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:06 am:

7 am in Leroy, McLean County, polling place was packed.

  13. - William j Kelly - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:07 am:

I just received a strange email from Diana rauner stating, ‘I just cut a deal to officially end American democracy.’ What is that all about?

  14. - BigRed - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:09 am:

Sheffield Towne Clubhouse has some pretty terrible parking, but voters have a look of relief that the election is finally coming to an end.

  15. - Pius - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:13 am:

Putting signs up on UI-UC campus. Not much activity–which is the norm. Student generally are not early voters. One precinct had to jam doors open–key provided would not keep the door unlocked.

  16. - Etown - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:13 am:

Rauner signs all over Crawford and Grosse Point Roads in Evanston/Skokie. Passers for both candidates

  17. - Poll watcher - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:14 am:

Several precincts in Danville with computers down and handful of other related poll issues.

  18. - GV - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:24 am:

Still in bed in our nation’s capital. Sun is up. That’s all I got.

  19. - america - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:28 am:

East side of Springfield: windy and light rain. There was a line at at least 2 polling locations prior to opening on time at 6am. Signs for both parties at all locations.

  20. - vibes - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:29 am:

Northside, 645a — no line but 40 votes, up from usual 25. New sticker printer thingy working well, to delight of pollworkers.

  21. - Steve Earle - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:29 am:

McLean county Bloomington 13. Steady stream of voters. No issues.

  22. - John A. Logan - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:30 am:

In Jackson County at 7 am, biggest crowd I have ever seen. Light rain coming down. Still paper ballots down here, so no issue with computers not working. Under voted the governors race after about 5 minutes of contemplation. Just could not pull the trigger for any of the three.

  23. - Yellow Dog Democrat - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:30 am:

Rauner claims to have 10,000 volunteers.

    “The largest force ever assembled.”

    Anyone seeing that yet?

Because 7-9 is prime passing time.

  24. - Peoria Guy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:30 am:

Lots of Rauner signs and Rauner supporters at the two polling places in passed. Peoria

  25. - Nieva - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:31 am:

The south will be dealing with heavy rain all day so I would expect a low turn out in some of those areas.

  26. - anon - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:34 am:

Its 11,000 Yellow Dog, you just aren’t looking in the right places.

  27. - Ralph - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:38 am:

Decent stream in Naperville. Signs everywhere. Senger and Rauner have people passing.

  28. - South side - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:41 am:

Lots of voters south side of Chicago. Bad news for chip

  29. - Jay Dee - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:41 am:

Overcast with sprinkles. There was no waiting at my polling place just now. Granted, I live in a villiage of just over 1K, so I never expect to wait.

  30. - Citizen Lake - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:42 am:

@6:15 the missus and I were 16th & 17th voter. Lake County, Fremont 116. This is #10 Dold Country. Line 3 deep at each table.

  31. - train111 - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:42 am:

West Chicago city hall. 3 precincts crammed into 1 small room. Crammed, but moving. A lot busier than in March.

  32. - DoubleDown - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:43 am:

Peotone, Was a line waiting to vote
    Parking lot was full

  33. - Raising Kane - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:44 am:

VM, I sure hope Rauner volunteers aren’t wasting their time passing. If you show up to vote today you have your mind made up. A scrap of paper with your candidates name on it, particularly after 50 million dollars of ads isn’t very effective. Down ballot, particularly judge races passing makes sense but not high-profile races.

A much better use of their time is knocking doors and calling their pluses and the high-affinity voters and getting them to the polls.

  34. - Soccermom - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:46 am:

I haven’t voted yet. I am not sure whom to support. Has anybody seen any campaign ads that might help me make up my mind?

(Dear heaven, if I never see Diana Rauner’s pink sweater again….)

  35. - Peoria Guy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:48 am:

    This.

  36. - historic66 - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:49 am:

I was voter number 40 at my polling place which takes in 4 precincts. Light rain forecast for most of the morning.

  37. - Obama's Puppy - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:53 am:

Rainy and warm in Metro East, definitely traffic in dem precincts.

  38. - GetOverIt - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:53 am:

Chicago Height and Ford Heights is status quo. Nothing to see here fellas, keep it movin’.

  39. - Anon - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:57 am:

In town Springfield location at 6:10 had about 10 voters and a steady stream entering/leaving. No wait, took me less than 10 minutes total. Light rain. Lots of signs, no one handing out literature, everything working smoothly.

  40. - Downstate - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:57 am:

Downstate Precinct - lighter than normal turnout. Poll worker thought lots of early voting is a factor.

Rain - Temp in the 50s.

  41. - 36th warder - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 7:58 am:

All 30 precincts covered in the 36th Ward for the Governor and the Dem Team. Also, lots of signs out in anticipation of the Chicago municipal elections for Villegas for Alderman of the 36th.

  42. - Big Ern McCracken - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:02 am:

Wow, take a look at the weather radar. Looks like a huge swath of cloud cover/rain stretching from Danville to Southern IL.

  43. - walker - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:03 am:

Around me (NW burbs) seem about same as 2010, or slightly up. And we had record level EVs. Weather’s OK.

  44. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:03 am:

Gilbert Villegas ran the Capital Development Board. Great guy

  45. - lake county democrat - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:05 am:

Mine appeared to be bucking the trend - parking lot not too crowded, but I strongly suspect lots of early voting.

  46. - Served - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:07 am:

Lakeview in Chicago was busy, even though that might have been because the poll workers were a bit flustered and one of the printers was broken. Hopefully they find their groove, or else the wait times will be huge.

  47. - Dear Abby - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:09 am:

    I agree with Soccermom @7:46.
I am sure to under vote. But, I WILL vote and thank a Vet today! One of the best days in America! (Insert Toby Keith song here.)

  48. - Where Am I? - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:09 am:

Decent turnout in Quad Cities. No lines and definitely not as busy as 2012.

  49. - Thomas Paine - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:14 am:

Suprisingly good crowd in my Brideport polling place. 4 guys outside pushing Quinn and Daley.

  50. - 19th Ward - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:17 am:

Maybe not so bad for Chip. Mnt Greenwood very busy and a number of people putting hands up when offered Quinn piece

  51. - Bob - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:23 am:

Normal Jacksonville election day, lots of Rauner signs going up on corners (one dude doing it). Either Rauner overstocked on signs or people didn’t want them in their yards. Voting station had steady flow.

  52. - VotingIsAwesome - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:24 am:

Lake county is chaos. The clerk is forcing provisional ballots on people who are entitled to a regular ballot. Lots of misinformation out there.

  53. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:26 am:

The Welles Park Field House was packed just now. It has several precincts but I don’t remember see it this full before. A couple of passers for Quinn and Lisa, so one else.

Warm, not raining yet, should be a good morning rush and I’ll be interested in the 10:00 numbers when they come in.

  54. - Del Clinkton - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:26 am:

I heard Obama caused the rain in downstate IL.

  55. - PublicServant - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:32 am:

Chicago is clear. No rain. Lots of machine voters out there that nobody sent.

  56. - Been There - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:34 am:

Been out since 6. Somehow it’s the same temperature 2 and half hours later but it feels like I am in an icebox with this wind.
And the grumpy tea bagger passing lit beside me makes it worse

  57. - 32nd Ward Roscoe Village - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:34 am:

I saw my first Lisa Madigan yard sign this morning, driving to work in downtown Chicago. It was with a Durbin and Quinn sign, stuck in the probably the only patch of grass just north of the loop. Did not see many people walking or driving to polling places on my way there.

  58. - Rich Miller - Tuesday, Nov 4, 14 @ 8:34 am:

OK, let’s close this one out and start a fresh thread. Thanks, everybody! https://capitolfax.com/2014/11/04/830-10-oclock-precinct-reports/
