Glad you are doing okay. Read the fax everyday and Barton did a great job. Enjoy your insight and all of the commenters. Be well and good luck to you. 😀
I didnt think anything of it, except that maybe your dance card was full (way full, based on previous conversations) and you were just enjoying the last of summer.
Listen to your mom and daughter. They’re going to run the show for a while now, savvy? You’re blessed that they came running to do it.
Tne others will be around for a while, they can wait, lol.
FWIW, Barton, as always, was a champ. Love those shorts.
Willy got everything right once again, yet he and I do not always agree - we do agree more often than not.
Welcome back, take care, work on your rehab and please continue keeping all of us in the forefront of Illinois politics. Do not try to take any shortcuts - we need you.
And I should probably go to the juice bar and give up my 12 cigarettes a day as well.
We always miss you, Rich, but you have a more-than-able sub in Barton. Thanks to him for keeping all the balls in the air, and thanks to your good doctors. A lot of us in the same age range have had recent wakeup calls and are working on a healthier lifestyle. We’re with you!
It’s good to have the Captain back at the helm. How else are we going to know what’s going on..

“Well done, Barton. Rich’s faith and trust is well founded in you.”
It’s great to have you back, Rich. Barton did a great job. Some of us were going hard at McQueary, and he gently asked us to tone it down. He also did a fantastic job by posting interesting stories and keeping the blog rolling.
It goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: it’s great to have you back!

Had my first at 37, forced into retirement by the Army. Had my second at 47, I never slowed down, ignored what my body was telling me and lived as if I was immortal. Don’t be like I was, slow down, enjoy what is important in life, family, watching those you raised start their own families, and enjoying being a Grandfather.
It took me twice to see the writing on the wall, and I will attest that if you do the right things, your body will heal, your soul will thrive and your inner peace will be better. Oh, and you will be able to actually enjoy life instead of just live life.
Best of luck to beat the smokes, it has been the fiercest battle of my life. You can do it, just be careful of the urge to eat more food to beat the cravings, or at least eat fruit and vegetables. No one has ever over dosed on broccoli as far as I know.
Best of luck to beat the smokes. You can do it, just be careful of the urge to eat more food to beat the cravings, when I had a craving, I drank a glass of water until it was over. The good news it, cravings don’t last long. Think of your children every time you have a craving.
Give ‘em hell you old SOB who’s the same age as I am! Next stop - one of us will be the 6 million dollar man (+ plus dollar inflation & waistline inflation).

I’m really glad you’re healing, just take it slow.
Maybe instead of grabbing a drink in a bar, how about a healthy smoothie at a juice bar next time?
I know you’re in good hands at home.
- WWMJMD - Tuesday, Aug 18, 15 @ 5:34 pm:
So grateful that you’re ok!!

Did they actually find a heart when they opened you up???? LOL. LOOKS like overtime session wore you out old man!!

To Barton,
It’s one thing to be given the keys to a Ferrari, and to be trusted to drive it.
It’s a completely different to be able to drive the Ferrari with skill, and have it run as close to the red as possible.
Well done, Barton. Rich’s faith and trust is well founded in you.
- MurMan - Tuesday, Aug 18, 15 @ 5:42 pm:

Eeewwww.
Then again, life is good when you have it, don’t crap it out; NO MORE smoking. Period. If I could quit, after 20+ times, so can you!

Rich, if you need help quitting, use hypnotism - it works. It worked for me & my friends. I’ve been smoke free for 32 years.

I appreciate you. And will think of you when praying to the higher power. Stay strong and you have an army thinking of you.
