Just when it can’t get any funnier…… a grant applicant inflammatorily accused state employees of holding the City of Naperville grant application “hostage”. It was in the compliance checking process, dot all the i’s and cross the t’s, does it really meet all grant criteria and eligibility?
You’ve got to be kidding me…..
Willy - he can afford to do whatever he wants. I doubt that the money needed to run his campaign is even an issue with him.
I have friends in his district and will see how this opens up. Granted, most of them are not as tuned into partisan politics and campaign dynamics like I think of myself as being. Should be interesting.
Illini- alas not my district. I think I might have thought about it. I’m in the Kay/Stuart district. I just work in ESL. But OW you’re always welcome down here. We’ll sit on Cahokia Mounds and watch the electoral fireworks from there!
Reminds me of Dr. Will in the second season of the TV show Big Brother. He told everyone in the house from day one that he was a liar, but everyone convinced themselves the they were the one person he wasn’t lying to - and he won the game. Sometimes being truthful about being a liar is the best smoke screen of all - but only when accompanied by a huge dollop of charm.
Anon - it does seem to be a disconnect, but I am not surprised. The Grim Reaper sets his own agenda. Can’t offer any insight.
Remember, this is St. Clair County politics and that there are any number of powerful and influential people and groups that are in play here. Burning bridges is one thing, but personal differences, and/or personal gain and aggrandizement are something else.
Will not speculate on his real motivation but it should be interesting to see how this plays out.

OW, pick me up on the way down, would ya? I love a good show. Maybe we would be fortunate enough to find the Cubs at Busch, too!
To the Post, others would know better, but iirc this fellow has always identified as a Republican to my great chagrin.
Arthur - the Cubs and Cards do play at Busch - great games always regardless of either teams prowess and strengths in any given year. Always a great series.
And you may well be right that Bob has been voting R for many years - would be a surprise, but might be expected.
This guy has a real shot. He’s got former ESL Mayor Carl Officer in his camp. His radio show is something else. His slogan is “Vote the Person, not the Party”. He’s not afraid of speaking his mind.

Given what has gone down in East St. Louis over the last year or so, would electing this guy really be a problem or even a big deal?!
