I have head a migraine since 7 am today.

This isn’t helping my migraine or in the idea of what should be the type of politics needed for good governing.

Keep in mind Proft is doing “work” helping a Democratic Raunerite, and it appears Republicans favored by Bruce Rauner, making the work, “Raunerite works”

This message, raw red meat as it is, gives an insight what a Raunerite message is all about.

  2. - Anonymous - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:13 pm:

Compare the Speaker and Senate President to an Iraqi dictator responsible for gassing his own people.

This could be the new Gordons Law.

  3. - Red Ranger - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:13 pm:

One step away from Goodwin’s Law being invoked I guess. Uhg.

  4. - GetOverIt - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:13 pm:

So how’s taking out Sadaam been working for everyone? Kinda like taking out Quinn, not too good!

  5. - Anon221 - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:14 pm:

So… Rauner’s bro-fest with Cullerton must really be over, huh? Proft has a wonderful juvenile mentality.

  6. - Rhino Slider - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:14 pm:

That is so insulting to Saddam Hussein.

  7. - Ray del Camino - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:14 pm:

You have got to be kidding me.

  8. - Blue Dog - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:16 pm:

Politics in the age of Facebook voters…

  9. - somalia - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:16 pm:

Lol good call getoverit. I think it is safe to say taking out Sadam was one of the dumbest foreign policy blunders in the history of this country. By far. So good choice, Proft. Lol

  10. - There is power in a union... - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:17 pm:

Reminds me of when walker said taking on the unions have him experience for taking on isis.

  11. - Arthur Andersen - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:20 pm:

Willy, I feel your pain, figuratively and literally. My head is killing me.

Looking at this tripe ain’t helping. I once thought Schimpf was a decent guy. Sad to see him in the gutter with Proft.

OW, hope you feel better soon.

  12. - Anon - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:20 pm:

    Pro-Tip: It’s Godwin’s Law.

  13. - Anon2U - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:21 pm:

    This ain’t beanbag.

  14. - Nick Name - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:23 pm:

“So how’s taking out Sadaam been working for everyone? Kinda like taking out Quinn, not too good!”

That is an exceedingly good point.

  15. - Finally Out (and now very glad to be) - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:24 pm:

Have to agree with Willy and AA. Rauner and the legislators and people he controls are turning my stomach and giving me a migraine.

    This mailer is sad.

  16. - Oswego Willy - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:25 pm:

    - AA -, thanks, I’m going to try to lay down again, nothing is helping. Good luck to you as well.

    To the Post, to add…

Another reason the Caucuses are willing to let Proft do this, why would they want to?

  17. - Downstate - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:25 pm:

    Anon @ 2:13,
I think you are reading a little too much into this. It’s a hit piece for sure. But it’s simply a piece to show that Schimf is tough with military experience. Frankly in only 14 words, they communicated a lot.

Madigan and Cullerton are not beloved in Southern Illinois. If they were, this type of piece wouldn’t be in the mail.

  18. - Ducky LaMoore - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:26 pm:

So you prosecuted the man that was brutally hung in the name of Muqtada al-sadr? Some dang good old fashioned blind justice you’re endorsing there.

  19. - tominchicago - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:26 pm:

Does he have a chance against Shelia Simon? In a district that includes SIU? Simon should do a mailer juxtaposing Saddam and Rauner.

  20. - Earnest - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:29 pm:

I hope that, after the war, Illinois will be left in better shape than Iraq was.

  21. - Frenchie Mendoza - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:33 pm:

That was Sadaam? I thought it was the Unabomber.

I guess the mailer didn’t work its magic on me. From what I understand, Rauner has yet to best either Cullerton or Madigan, so if Rauner can’t do it — I’m not sure why anyone else could. Even if they did something serious to the Unabomber.

    Or Sadaam.

    Or whoever.

  22. - Tommydanger - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:33 pm:

Too many people would struggle to identify photos of people in our own government. I suspect even less can immediately identify the despot in the picture. For many it would appear that based on his ability to prosecute a homeless man, he’s ready to take on those other guys.

  23. - illini - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:35 pm:

Isn’t it amazing with what you can do with millions in the bank and minions and surrogates doing your dirty work!!!

Although I live in Southern Illinois which is not known to be strongly union, even the Republican flyers I get all have the Printers Union “Bug” on their literature. Did I miss it on this flyer?

  24. - VanillaMan - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:35 pm:

It is an invite to a geek ho-down, right?

  25. - Tommydanger - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:39 pm:

Quick Downstate: name all the political leaders north of I80 that are beloved by folks south of I80

  26. - Carbondale Chris - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:48 pm:

This guy looks good compared to Shelia Simon the “accidental” ( see Scott Lee Cohen) LT governor.

  27. - Down the Middle - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:52 pm:

The CapFax crowd must be decidedly young today. This mailer is nothing compared to some doozies from the past 30 years or so. Both sides do it, and the messages are about as repugnant as they are effective. Hate it.

  28. - Dirty Red - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:56 pm:

I get it now! Proft doesn’t actually want to win these races! Wow. That probably should have clicked with me sooner than it did. Sorry, you guys.

  29. - Jon - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 2:56 pm:

I’m pretty sure that prosecuting Hussein wasn’t really that tough. Someone may also want to edit the Wikipedia entry on the trial to add Mr. Schimpf as it appears that a serious error has occurred and he has been overlooked as participating in the prosecution.

  30. - Boone's is Back - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:01 pm:

    Well then… points for creativity?

  31. - walker - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:03 pm:

So laughable as to possibly boomerang.

  32. - JS Mill - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:08 pm:

=Quick Downstate: name all the political leaders north of I80 that are beloved by folks south of I80=

    LOL, good point.

  33. - Secret Square - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:09 pm:

“That was Sadaam? I thought it was the Unabomber.”

Guess I’m not the only one who thought so…

  34. - GA Watcher - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:28 pm:

Have to wonder how people who live in this district and others where Liberty Principles has done mailers react to the Chicago return address.

  35. - Politix - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:28 pm:

When will it finally catch on that people hate petty mailers?

  36. - 47th Ward - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:30 pm:

I believe that Proft and Rauner will be greeted as liberators.

  37. - Downstate - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:37 pm:

    Tommydanger,
Loved your response. I think Jesse White is pretty well liked by downstate voters. Lisa Madigan certainly does well down here as well. But to your point, looking for beloved characters north of I-80 would quickly zero in on residents of the Lincoln Park Zoo. (of course I’m kidding. I don’t want to get into a whole thang over this.)

  38. - Anon - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:38 pm:

The other night Proft elevated the discussion by calling Madigan and Cullerton “two little licentious leprechauns.”

  39. - Tommydanger - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:42 pm:

    lol, very true Downstate

  40. - Langhorne - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:47 pm:

    Disgusting. Poisonous.

Does a lot to make any progress impossible.

    And proft is probably gleeful

  41. - Team Sleep - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 3:47 pm:

    1. I enjoy red meat. Steak and brisket are very tasty.

    2. Meh. It’s for a GOP primary mailer.

  42. - Wensicia - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 4:01 pm:

    Lame.

  43. - Sad - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 4:21 pm:

Unfortunately, Sheila Simon has NO chance in this district. Schimpf will win walking away and not just because incumbent Senator Dave Luchtefeld is backing him.
(IF Sheila wins her home County of Jackson it will be the only one of the 12 or so Counties she’ll win in this conservative district.)

  44. - Keyser Soze - Friday, Feb 5, 16 @ 4:30 pm:

I wonder if Sadaam would have gassed ISIS. We shall never know.
