You can watch the whole event by clicking here. * But don’t kid yourself. He was apparently just trying to avoid overly incendiary rhetoric. From an administration official…

When is the governor going to start a drumbeat for his specific reforms, the way he has against unbalanced budgets?
- 47th Ward - Thursday, May 26, 16 @ 12:53 pm:
I think the only people who weren’t 100% sure Governor Rauner would veto the budget were the HGOP caucus, lol.

Of course he’ll veto. But let’s see what the Senate does. I know one Senate Democrat who (at least for right now) swears he/she will not vote for a budget that does not contain revenue. A lot of those Democrats are fed up with the games as well.

With a budget passed that is $7 billion in the hole and jammed through by the Dems. Rauner might come out looking the reasonable one. I’m surprised by his tone since the events of yesterday. I was expecting some strong crazy rhetoric, but he has kept his cool.

Good on Rauner for focusing on the =doable=, not the =war= or the attempted =sabotage= of compromise efforts.
The leaders meeting should be fun. What will Madigan try today to run out the clock and derail any possible compromise or progress?

Are you deaf?

=The governor wants to focus on balanced budget=
Since when? It would help if he EVER proposed one.

If he vetoes everything but K-12, spending will still increase $700 million over this year. Or he could slash an education appropriation. Well done.

Where is this cheshire cat messaging coming from with the GOP?
I thought Madigan was a mirthless strongman crime boss (see “Obey”) and now he is a cheshire cat?
Bruce got money invested in Disney’s new Alice movie coming out this weekend?

1:18 : I can hear the governor talk about reform and turnaround, and of course I love that, but I don’t know what he means. I’m waiting for him to tell me.

The two of you should be collecting Hilton points together. Really.

What are you implying exactly?
I used to troll you because it was fun and easy to pick away at your credibility lest you persuade a few of the more gullible readers here. Absent an apology to Norseman, myself, our host and Hilton Reward Members everywhere, I will forever consider it my duty to rhetorically abuse you at every opportunity.
Because it’s not only fun and easy, now you’ve made it personal.

Rauner would veto a BALANCED budget if it didn’t include his poison pill turnaround agenda points!! So there’s no big surprise here.
