So will I get to see things like “structured roll calls/votes” today? OW has spoken of such creatures, creatures of good governance, compromise, and caucus politics. I hope I get to see one today. Wouldn’t that be nice.

“Wouldn’t that be nice.” I see what you did there Honeybear. Well done.
I hope an actual BUDGET compromise is worked out with no unrelated (Turnaround Agenda) items involved. Turnaround Agenda items should be voted up or down separately at a later date.

Apologize to MisterJayEm, I missed your contribution to our Beach Boys posting. My bad, I will now flog myself.
Back in the day, a friend of mine toured with the Beach Boys for about a year as their drummer. I meet up with him once a year at a convention of a club we are both members in.

@MisterJayEm, hoist up the John B. sails and touch ‘em all.
It could turn in to a Dog Day Afternoon. A stop gap is not a budget. More like Sonny ordering pizzas to keep the hostages alive. But Sal is still lurking in the background. Who’s going to deal with Sal?
Yikes! Now I have the Beach Boys stuck in my head. I guess it’s better than dreaming about Sandack last night after watching the Daily Show bit on the budget impasse.
–Look: Rauner is either going to drop his Turnaround Agenda or he isn’t.–
He’s going to drop it because he gets his labor war. Fungable “operations funds” equals scab hiring money. He get’s to destroy AFSCME this round. Next year he’ll go after prevailing wage and collective bargaining.

What’s missing in this video? Save for a couple of stills, Brian Wilson. Do these negotiations have their Brian Wilson?
P.S. Brian will be performing in Chicago in mid-July.

Great song!
I feel really optimistic.

Fingers and toes crossed that the good vibrations lead to budget.
- @MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Jun 29, 16 @ 8:29 am:
“Good Vibrations”?
Wouldn’t It Be Nice? Sadly, most days it feels more like I Just Wasn’t Made for These Times…
I’m Waiting for the Day that they get this done — I Know There’s an Answer and my fingers are crossed that they find it today — but God Only Knows.

- @MisterJayEm - wins…
- Honeybear -,
My sincere hope is that we start seeing many, many structured roll calls and clean signatures.
Governing, indeed.
I hope.

BTW, The Monkees (yes, them) have a new (yes, new) album out. And it’s actually pretty good. That might brighten somebody’s day.

I suppose the lack of sniping lends itself to some optimism but when it comes to the impasse I’ll believe there is progress when I see it.

=== So how do you get CPS out of the equation? ===
You don’t.
You can’t pass a K-12 budget without funding CPS.
But, you can ramp them up to pension funding parity over three years as part of the BIMP.
Look: Rauner is either going to drop his Turnaround Agenda or he isn’t.
If he drops it, he has no reason any longer to hold Chicago school children hostage.
Then, it just becomes a matter of available funds, additional revenues, and priorities.
