If you believe in omens…
Wednesday, Aug 10, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller * The National Conference of State Legislatures is holding its annual legislative summit in Chicago this year. The big Illinois legislative reception is tonight at the Field Museum. Lots of Illinois legislators are tweeting about it. But this one caught my eye…

never heard of a landspout and it’s got me mighty nervous! came out of no where, no radar warning, did cause some damage.

The Illinois Legislators must be happy to have distractions so they don’t have to talk about the Illinois budget or pension liabilities.

Well, with Rauner in hiding — furious, I assume, at how Trump is stealing and messing with his “outsider” message — it’s omens all the way down.

The Annual Legislative Summit visitors will not notice the violence or murders as they visit Navy Pier or Millennium Park, or the Shedd, or the Field or the Mag mile.

First, it wasn’t a “twister”, it was a land spout, some damage by Hawthorne Park.
Second, when we begin investing in the areas of Englewood, Austin, etc., there could be jobs. When weve done this in the past, violence has gone down…most people prefer a job to hustling.

We better hope ALEC doesn’t come to town.

Last I saw Alec was busy at work in his Springfield IRMA office. Not sure why so many commenters are worried about whether he went to NCSL or not.

A “landspout” is a small, weak funnel cloud that forms over land, under conditions similar to those that spawn waterspouts. Classic tornadoes descend from a rotating parent thunderstorm (supercell); landspouts form up from the ground as a result of a wind shift or surge of cold or warm air. Because landspouts aren’t connected to high-level rotation in a thunderstorm, radar can’t detect them. Although they are officially considered tornadoes in weather records, most landspouts are weak and cause little or no damage.
