I am in Kate Cloonen’s district and I get mailers almost every day. Sometime I have gotten the same mailer three days in a row. I have gotten 4 phone calls (even after asking to be removed after the first phone call). Yesterday I was home sick and someone knocked on the door campaigning for Kloonen. I feel your pain.
I’ll bet I have gotten at least 20 at my house during the campaign. However, only addressed to my voting age children. The first 15 to my daughter and now the last 5 for my son.
BTW It got her ZERO votes.
Please, pretty please, vote for me. I’m desperate for your vote. If you don’t vote for me, I will have a temper tantrum, roll around the floor screaming, hold my breath until I die. Pleeeeeease vote for me.
Stuart Campaign Response: “We’re very sorry, someone screwed up, and we will find the offending staffer and fire them. They should have received 17 letters.”
Ron Burgundy — and the staffer responsible for firing that staffer has been sacked.
To the post — finally, a way to decide how to vote in those contests where you simply cannot learn anything helpful about either candidate. Vote for the one who cared enough to send you more mailers.
After seeing the photo I had to pull from recycling what we’ve received since last pickup 9 days ago. 56 pieces of crap, only 12 of the Stuart letters pictured (5 came today). The rest were shiny, lots of pictures and bold type, not read and put in recycling bin in the garage. Who has convinced these people this is successful? If this works…..we are doomed!
I know that I am probably the exception to the rule as far as this election year goes, but I have received a single ( note, only ONE ) flyer so far this year and only one robocall.
Granted, both of these were for Judicial Candidates that are in different contested races and that I fully intend to support.
I feel a bit slighted by not being inundated with the overwhelming attention being given to voters in the rest of the state. And I have voted in every election since 1972.
Like illini, I’m feeling a tad neglected. No robocalls, and the only candidate on whose behalf I have received mailers is Robin Kelly. An outfit called Center Forward has sent me three touting her “fight to protect Medicare”, which is logical because I’m that old. But I don’t think sending a “Standing up for Illinois Farmers” mailer to the south side of Chicago was the best use of time and money.

Animal: What do all those ladies say in these letters?
Shapiro: What do they always say?
Animal: Lemme read one.
Shapiro: It’s not good for you, Animal.
Animal: Hey, this is with a typewriter… it’s from a finance company.
Shapiro: So it’s from the finance company. So, it’s better than no letter at all. So they want the third payment on the Plymouth.
[dropping each letter on the floor in turn]
Shapiro: So they want the fourth… the fifth… the sixth… the seventh… So they want the Plymouth.
Animal: Sugar Lips Shapiro. Amazing, ain’t it?
