* From a reader…

Rich,

I’m sure most voters across the state are sick of political mailers. Well, my friend got 14 copies of the same thing from Katie Stuart today.

* Stuart is running against Rep. Dwight Kay (R-Glen Carbon)…

Kate Stuart really wants Mr. Potter to know he got into Hogwarts.

  5. - Dee Lay - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 2:59 pm:

Sloppy and wasteful. Who is running Stuart’s campaign?

  6. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:01 pm:

“We’re trying to just send letters to people who collect letter, like for a hobby… We heard it’s a thing… “

If one letter is good, 17 is better

  9. - justme - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:03 pm:

I am in Kate Cloonen’s district and I get mailers almost every day. Sometime I have gotten the same mailer three days in a row. I have gotten 4 phone calls (even after asking to be removed after the first phone call). Yesterday I was home sick and someone knocked on the door campaigning for Kloonen. I feel your pain.

  10. - Anon221 - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:04 pm:

RIGGED…I TELL YOU!!! RIGGED!!! Fourteen…count ‘em…FOURTEEN aliases of the same voter to get this much mail. Sad.

    Fake Trump

“After numerous texting scandals, campaigns have now gone to a more traditional, yet time consuming way to talk to each other… “

  12. - BIG R. Ph. - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:07 pm:

I’ll bet I have gotten at least 20 at my house during the campaign. However, only addressed to my voting age children. The first 15 to my daughter and now the last 5 for my son.
BTW It got her ZERO votes.

  13. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:07 pm:

Animal: What do all those ladies say in these letters?

Shapiro: What do they always say?

    Animal: Lemme read one.

Shapiro: It’s not good for you, Animal.

Animal: Hey, this is with a typewriter… it’s from a finance company.

Shapiro: So it’s from the finance company. So, it’s better than no letter at all. So they want the third payment on the Plymouth.

[dropping each letter on the floor in turn]

Shapiro: So they want the fourth… the fifth… the sixth… the seventh… So they want the Plymouth.

Animal: Sugar Lips Shapiro. Amazing, ain’t it?

  17. - Huh? - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:10 pm:

Please, pretty please, vote for me. I’m desperate for your vote. If you don’t vote for me, I will have a temper tantrum, roll around the floor screaming, hold my breath until I die. Pleeeeeease vote for me.

  18. - RIJ - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:11 pm:

She’s the Pringles chips of campaigning!

Stuart Campaign Response: “We’re very sorry, someone screwed up, and we will find the offending staffer and fire them. They should have received 17 letters.”

    Fourteen phone books later

  21. - @MisterJayEm - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:15 pm:

    Finally!

A candidate who can stay on message.

“Candidate sends all mailers to one household rather than engaging in promiscuous mailing”

  23. - Whatever - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:21 pm:

Ron Burgundy — and the staffer responsible for firing that staffer has been sacked.

To the post — finally, a way to decide how to vote in those contests where you simply cannot learn anything helpful about either candidate. Vote for the one who cared enough to send you more mailers.

    Enveloping the occupant

  27. - A guy - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:32 pm:

We’d fax you two dozen, but this is more formal and more impressive. Right?

  28. - Retired ISP - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:36 pm:

After seeing the photo I had to pull from recycling what we’ve received since last pickup 9 days ago. 56 pieces of crap, only 12 of the Stuart letters pictured (5 came today). The rest were shiny, lots of pictures and bold type, not read and put in recycling bin in the garage. Who has convinced these people this is successful? If this works…..we are doomed!

  29. - JS Mill - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:36 pm:

We got a GREAT deal on stationary!

  30. - 47th Ward - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:38 pm:

Well, if you’d have listened the first 13 times, we wouldn’t have to send the 14th letter. C’mon man.

  31. - Rabid - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:44 pm:

    Circumscribing the voter

  32. - Team Sleep - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:50 pm:

This brings the whole “friend-to-friend” concept to a whole new level.

  33. - Red tower - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 3:55 pm:

You guys don’t understand. Campaigns in Illinois, for both parties, is all about funneling campaign money to connected printers and mailing agents.

Thier all in the pocket of big postal.

  34. - Earnest - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:09 pm:

Perhaps Rep Kay should go after the environmentalist vote.

  35. - Dance Band on the Titanic - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:10 pm:

Somewhere in that district is a very lonely shut-in who may be extremely happy to receive all these letters.

  36. - illini97 - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:14 pm:

I’m deeply offended. I only got two from Stuart yesterday. Though I guess there was one last week, too.

  37. - Edwardsville Dude - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:15 pm:

My neighbor received 8 of them today.

That’s 22 mailers between two houses. Madigan’s money well spent.

  38. - Dave Dahl - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:18 pm:

From Kathleen in the Pan Droft video?

    Dear Ms. Stuart:

Thank you for your generous donation.

    Sincerely,

    The United States Postal Service

  41. - (un)Happy State Employee - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:45 pm:

It looks like Katie’s already been indoctrinated into the State’s methodology of doing things in the most inefficient and costly manner. LOL

  42. - illini - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 4:53 pm:

I know that I am probably the exception to the rule as far as this election year goes, but I have received a single ( note, only ONE ) flyer so far this year and only one robocall.

Granted, both of these were for Judicial Candidates that are in different contested races and that I fully intend to support.

I feel a bit slighted by not being inundated with the overwhelming attention being given to voters in the rest of the state. And I have voted in every election since 1972.

  43. - burbanite - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 8:00 pm:

Elections: Job security for Post Office Employees.

  44. - JoanP - Wednesday, Nov 2, 16 @ 8:54 pm:

Like illini, I’m feeling a tad neglected. No robocalls, and the only candidate on whose behalf I have received mailers is Robin Kelly. An outfit called Center Forward has sent me three touting her “fight to protect Medicare”, which is logical because I’m that old. But I don’t think sending a “Standing up for Illinois Farmers” mailer to the south side of Chicago was the best use of time and money.
