You just need to keep a real tree well watered because they do generate quite a bit of heat; the newer ones aren’t as bad heat wise as the origional ones. We always had them on the tree when I was a kid. I think my first science lesson was when my dad explained that the heat from the bulb made the liquid inside bubble. So neat.
