A little holiday cheer
Friday, Dec 16, 2016 - Posted by Rich Miller
* Oscar by the tree…
* And the latest from VanillaMan, based on the song “Merry Christmas, Darling.” Click here if you aren’t familiar with the tune…
AFSCME stewards have all met
The lawsuits are going through
But I still have one wish to make…
A special one for you!
Oh, State Worker - Darling
I work for Rauner, that’s true
But I am really, your bestest friend
I’m not messing around with you!
Right To Work is so joyful
Governor Rauner’s for you!
But AFSCME pay’s - no holiday
They demand too much from you!
We want you to have Tier 3!
I’d wish you could see
It’s better to have Merit Pay!
Don’t pay your union dues
It’s the right thing to do
Together we’ll find a union-less way!
We wish you were more ambitious
And less suspicious too
I’ve just one wish I’d like to propose
Call me John, not Tokyo Rose
This email’s from me
So dump your union fee
And believe what I say
We’re really not very malicious
We want the best for you!
We’ve just one thing more to confide
Disagree with us, but you can’t hide!
Your email’s not unclassified!
Merry Christmas!
Oh State Workers - DAHLING!

Oscar’s stocking, I’m sure, will be full this holiday!
Great picture.

Merry Christmas, Oscar you handsome devil! Stay warm, have fun and keep your daddy happy.
- RNUG - Friday, Dec 16, 16 @ 2:55 pm:
Bubble lights on the tree, nice! Be sure to keep the tree watered. Oh, and Oscar is cute also.

I would like to see if Patti Smith could remember these lyrics.

===Bubble lights===
First time for that. Love them.

Merry Christmas Oscar! Great picture.

Bubble lights? Oh God, a flash from the past. Haven’t seen them in more than 50 years.
VM- Imaginative as always. Quite the musical talent. When does the cd come out? Perhaps as a charity fund raiser?

They have them at Jeffrey Alans. The tree looked too “classy.” Needed some kitsch.
- RNUG - Friday, Dec 16, 16 @ 3:45 pm:
I’m not using them this year, but we have several strings of bubble lights packed away. You just need to keep a real tree well watered because they do generate quite a bit of heat; the newer ones aren’t as bad heat wise as the origional ones.
As to kitsch, next year we’ll put up the aluminum tree with color wheels. We alternate and this is the year for the green tree.

I love bubble lights. We always had them on the tree when I was a kid. I think my first science lesson was when my dad explained that the heat from the bulb made the liquid inside bubble. So neat.
Oscar, as usual, is adorable.

Thank you VanillaMan! I was surprised by the angle from which you wrote that song–in a good way.
The Oscar pick makes me think of the movie Zoolander. What was his famous look, Maxim, where he could only turn profile in one direction? Hmm…I’m not sure we’ve seen Oscar with a profile in the other direction.

Thank you, once more VanillaMan, for your creative and point on lyrics.
And thank you, Rich, for sharing Oscar with us once again.
Quite a timely reminder that we all have our music ( especially with some very creative and timely lyrics ) and our four footed friends to help keep us relatively sane.

Your Grandma and Grandad had bubble lights on their tree so they bring back wonderful memories for me. I’m glad to see you are using them this year.
