AG Madigan’s turn to snub Trump

* Mary Ann Ahern…
President Donald Trump met Tuesday with a group of states’ attorneys general at the White House.
In all, about two dozen attended, but Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan declined the president’s invitation.
In a statement, Madigan told NBC 5, she “declined his invitation on behalf of the many Americans harmed by his actions.”
“This President has threatened our civil rights and civil liberties in a way we haven’t seen in decades,” the statement read. “He has put Wall Street bankers in the administration to protect the greed that brought our country to financial collapse.”
The president posed for a group photo with the attorneys general calling them “great people.” Those attending the White House meeting included Florida, Idaho and Georgia’s Attorney General.

How about attending and make known your concerns/complaints in the appropriate manner.

Meh, she snubbed Obama when he asked her to help him hold the Senate. She would have clobbered Kirk, but chose not to for personal reasons.
She had a chance to denounce Trumpism from the White House lawn. She chose not

So tired of Illinois politicians whose leadership abilities seem limited to repeating “talking points.”
Good to know that Lisa Madigan is calling for advancing legislation to protect some of the people that she claimed needed help in 2002. What exactly has she been doing for the past decade and a half?

at least you know where she stands on the Trump question. Rauner, on the other hand, is trying to walk a tightrope!

I suspect that gathering was larger than some of the pro-Trump rallies yesterday. The bloom is definitely off that rose nationwide.

Thank you Lisa Madigan!
- wordslinger - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 3:00 pm:
pardon, gadget problems.
madigan chose not to denounce Trumpism in front of the world press on the White House lawn.
My daughter, my wife and my sisters all marched last month. Those bad women would have taken her opportunity to go into the lion’s den in a New York minute.
“Nevertheless, they would have persisted.”
A press release to Channel 5 ain’t exactly a profile in courage.
If she believes Trumpism is the threat she says it is, then how dare she pass on the opportunity to go into the lions den.

she is joke and has no desire to be anything but a ILLINOIS supreme when it open up
- Jose Abreu's last homer - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 3:22 pm:
This press release is as underwhelming as her tenure in state politics. May as well have written this on a napkin.

Can we get a copy of the actual denial to the invite? I agree with the AG’s decision not to go, I still assume she has aspirations for another office and the photo op with Trump would be a disaster for those intentions. I have my doubts she would have had much access to Trump anyway.
- Commonsense in Illinois - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 3:39 pm:
Too bad. AG Madigan could have added to the discussion. Instead she passed up an opportunity that thousands of her constituents would have wanted. Now the President can rightfully and accurately say, I invited her to discuss issues and our differences, and she ignored the opportunity.
Makes one wonder who she represents?

These are starting to seem more and more contrived. I like Lisa alot, and think she is competent as an A.G. but for some reason everyone putting out a statement on not attending is becoming more self serving than anything else.

Thank you Lisa for keeping your carbon footprint down.
- phocion - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 3:48 pm:
Dear Lisa,
Grow up and do your job.
- soapbox derby - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 3:53 pm:
Lisa, staying away totally abdicates your responsibilities to all the people of Illinois.
- Responsa - Tuesday, Feb 28, 17 @ 4:02 pm:
Disappointed in Lisa. She should have gone as her state’s Attorney General officeholder, spoken from her heart in front of her peers, listened to what they had to say, and kept her public political talking points out of it. Not going accomplished nothing. Going might have accomplished something.

Totally making her, I will be the Durbin replacement statement.

Where is your comment Rich that she’s giving up an opportunity to exact some kind of influence on Trump? I’ve heard it said on your blog that Rauner should be critiqued, but why not Lisa?

I didn’t have an opinion when I posted it either way. So, if you do have an opinion you’re free to post it. Otherwise, get your own blog.

Thank you, Raunertrolls, for your many responses.

Just showed this to Mrs Blue. She’s appalled. Her and the daughter love the Trumpster and is currently firing off a nasty email to her.

She’s seems to be easily triggered.
