Question of the day

Wednesday, May 3, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* From the Sun-Times interview of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Daiber

As for Illinois House Speaker and Democratic Party of Illinois Chairman Michael Madigan — the state Republican Party’s primo target — Daiber said the speaker was his second call when he decided to run. Daiber said the speaker “heard the rumor” and asked if he was serious. Daiber said Madigan told him to “move forward.”

“He’s not a bad guy. I’m probably the only guy who says that,” Daiber said of Madigan. “I have respect for him.”

* The Question: Suggested Daiber campaign slogans?

Not sure why he’s getting slammed for this? He’s the only one that actually will say what the others already know. Nothing in this state will get done without the speaker. You can blast him all you want (Biss) but you won’t get elected and your won’t get a budget approved without the leader of the democratic party (like it or not). I really think that Kennedy and Biss are hurting themselves by running against the party establishment in the primary. If this were a general I would be all for it…the Illinois Democratic party and Chicago Dems will decide the winner because they have the get out the vote infrastructure.

  30. - Southside Markie - Wednesday, May 3, 17 @ 6:15 pm:

Bob Daiber’s got backbone. Even Governor Rauner says that’s what Illinois’ economy needs.
