* I’ve hesitated to use this poll for two reasons. First, it’s from an advertiser. Second, it’s an online poll. So, I’ll leave it up to you if it’s worthy of discussion…

Even if it is self-selected and skewed, at 69% the numbers are so lopsided you have to think the overall sense / direction of the participants has some accuracy.

“Of the following issues, which do you think are the most important to the state of Illinois?”
Of the following? To the state of Illinois?
If that is the exact language of the second question, it’s amazing that more people didn’t choose “budget”.

Even as a proponent of recreational weed to the point where I could be called a radical, I really don’t see how anyone could’ve picked that over the budget (or healthcare for that matter).
- Bill - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 10:51 am:
Given the options probably accurate
- JoeMaddon - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 10:51 am:
What a weird list of issues to choose from…
- lake county democrat - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 10:53 am:
“If you answered “budget” to #3, which of the following do you agree with more:
a) In exchange for raising the income tax back to the time Governor Quinn was in office, there should be across the board 5% cuts to all state programs except education, and a Constitutional referendum should offered the voters to 1) curtail future public union benefits, 2) put term limits on elected officials and 3) forbid gerrymandering in drawing legislative districts.
b) raise the taxes without any sequestration cuts or political reforms.

Who would be the 17%?
- Real - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 11:01 am:
@Red
That would be Rauner supporting republicans.

===Who would be the 17%? ===
Raunerites and the people that were too stoned to realize that they clicked on the wrong button.

- Anon - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 11:25 am:
why wouldnt the pollster include right to work, work comp, term limits, and redistricting reform? That would have made the results more interesting.
- Chicago Cynic - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 11:38 am:
Have the 17% been to Illinois lately?
- Skeptic - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 2:11 pm:
5% really believe recreational pot is the most important issue in the state?
That is 5% too many and tells me more than I wan to know about some of our citizens.

If you want tax revenue, those 5% are on to something very big. Like hundreds of millions in tax revenue annually.
That’s a big pension payment.
- justacitizen - Tuesday, May 23, 17 @ 10:07 pm:
The 17% that think IL is on the right track must be the same population that think recreational marijuana is our most important issue.
