Yeah, this will help
Sunday, May 28, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * Keep in mind when reading this tweet that Gov. Rauner has supported a much bigger and broader service tax since the 2014 campaign and supports an income tax hike…
And I cannot figure out why they used a cartoon Abe in this thing, except perhaps to suck up to viewers and put the governor on the side of an American hero… or something. Your thoughts?

Candidate Rauner would not like Governor Rauner would he?

The wealthy Governor needs a “property tax freeze”, even more than ordinary residents who pay property taxes. It’s something that polls well, that he can campaign on. It would be the only achievement simple enough to sell to a relatively poorly-informed and inattentive voting public. Otherwise he has nothing. But he is disciplined enough to keep smiling through his desperation.

Kind of ironic considering Lincoln imposed the first federal income tax

Abe is click bait. And it works. No other reason.

My thought is that Rauner has stooped to the lowest of lows with his misleading rhetoric and constant flip-flopping. One cannot trust a thing that comes out of his mouth. And that is very sad for all Illinoisans.

My other thought is that Rauner just signaled that he has no interest in a budget agreement and Democrats should begin calling him on it so the few reporters still around might pay attention when session ends with no budget.

My great concern is not whether you have failed, but whether you are content with your failure, (Abraham Lincoln)

The Governor is not a Springfield insider ? Please.

Rauner has no interest on a budget agreement? He wants structural reforms. How many different ways can he say this? You still don’t understand what he wants?
