What’s happening in Springfield is offensive to our values and to who we are as a state, and Bruce Rauner blames everyone but himself. The failure to pass a budget isn’t just about numbers. It’s creating real damage to people across Illinois especially those most vulnerable in our society. Thousands of women and children seeking refuge from violence are finding shelters either closed or with less availability than they once had. Substance abuse programs are at risk in the middle of an opioid and meth epidemic that’s ripping apart families and communities. Home care for seniors is in jeopardy. Access to mental healthcare is under siege. And with Donald Trump in the White House, now more than ever, we need leadership in our state that’s committed to fighting for the people of Illinois. None of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. We have to fight for what we believe in. That’s why I’m running for governor.
Narrator: JB Pritzker. Democrat for governor. Fighting for what’s right. Getting things done.
* Sen. Daniel Biss’ press release was pretty harsh…
“Politics have gotten in the way of progress for the people of Illinois. Neither Governor Rauner nor Speaker Madigan have showed a sincere desire to keep our schools open, to pay our bills on time, or to make sure the safety net stays in place.
That’s why I’m calling on Governor Rauner and Speaker Madigan to do something they’ve refused to do — sit down with each other, face to face, and hammer out a compromise. They need to do their job and end the pain they’ve caused. If they can’t, it’s more evidence that it’s time to replace both.”
* Chris Kennedy…
After more than 700 days without a budget, Bruce Rauner has turned a budget crisis into an economic catastrophe for Illinois. The situation that we are now in is the economic equivalent of circling the drain. Financial analysts are threatening that Illinois’s financial situation is approaching rock bottom. That’s what’s become of our state under Bruce Rauner. We need to demand accountability and reject a rigged system. Illinois needs a budget that reflects our values as a state and gives businesses and residents confidence that state government is financially stable and predictable. If I’m elected governor and I don’t balance the budget, I won’t run again, nor should I. That’s the level of accountability and honesty we need to show the people of Illinois.
* Ameya Pawar fundraising e-mail…
Today is the last scheduled day of the legislative session, and it appears there will again be no spending plan before lawmakers adjourn for the summer, leaving schools, universities and social service providers without many answers.
Gov. Bruce Rauner has failed to do the most basic function of a governor for two years in a row. With no budget on the horizon, Illinois is on the cusp of a third straight year in fiscal limbo while more and more businesses and families flee the state in search of stability.
This is how a billionaire plutocrat governs - pitting people against each other and leaving working families with scraps.
All Gov. Rauner is focused on is how to buy another election. While Ameya’s big money opponents crowd the airwaves and raise eight figure checks that could fund a small town’s budget, we’re running a people-powered campaign. And, thanks to supporters like you, we’re gaining momentum every day.
Biss’ statement will resonate best with the largest number of voters. Rauner and Madigan are both hugely unpopular. I’d guess many Illinoisans would be ecstatic if both were replaced.
Wow, JB not only try’s to get a hack appointment from Blago…he actually stole his 2006 tag line as well “getting things done for people”. This guys a mess.
Sen. Biss: You think it’s enough to be right. That’s how math works. Right or wrong. No grays. When you look in the mirror, the reflection is a Paul Simon-Al Franken-Bernie Sanders-Elizabeth Warren chimera. That’s your own self-conception, not what the rest of us see or experience.
You, like Drury if he decides to run for gov on his incredible state rep record and extraordinary personal charisma and warmth, are patsies for Rauner. You are both Jill Steins.
You won’t have the resources to compete or help other Democrats. You bring so little to the table, other than being “right”. Stay in the Senate, make your contributions there, and bide your time until Schakowsky retires. We’ll all be better off, including you.
“What’s happening in Springfield is that we have a governor who refused to face OUR realities. We pay our bills, he did not. We help our neighbors, he did not. We make plans for our children’s future, he did not.No governor in US history has failed a state like Bruce Rauner failed Illinois. His bad leadership raised your taxes, but delivered nothing
The facts are in - Bruce Rauner failed you and me. He must go.”
List of issues, in a :60 second add… Way too many.
The idea of going after Rauner, for transgressions… This is kinda all over the place, missing Rauner, missing the chance to leave this at Rauner’s doorstep, and the reason this isn’t a “C” is that, thankfully, someone is finally taking the message of blame, watered down as it is… is finally… happening(?)
I believe Pritzker is done. Not sure if everyone agrees but the others must take advantage of this and quickly. Im not a Pawar supporter but this is a huge opportunity for free press. He can claim he never met blago and he wont be lying
Dear Sen. Daniel Biss, You should know by now that Rauner will never compromise. Plus he keeps moving the goal post. Therefore, your solution is not do-able.
Biss, Paar cannot compete if they win the primary. If they do win, the amount of money to bring them across the finish line will leave down ticket candidates out of luck.
well, at least Pritzker got off the “I’m a national leader” meme. which is utter nonsense.

Paging State Senator Daniel Biss:
The passage of the Biss Amendment (later held to be unconstitutional) has led to a class action lawsuit at Oakton Community College where the administration acted to deny employment to SURS annuitants.
I get it. You don’t like the guy. But for who called JB a national leader, how about if we start with Barack Obama who asked JB to organize the White House Summit on early childhood education. Does that count? I can point to lots of others but POTUS seems like a good place to start.
Biss just voted for a tax hike with little chance of passing that he knew could be used against him in his campaign. He’s earned the right to call out Rauner and Madigan for failing to make hard choices.

All summer long!
Bruce Rauner- “their duct tape solutions”
JB Pritzker-”absolute failure in leadership and governing”
Who said it better?
- PJ - Thursday, Jun 1, 17 @ 1:46 pm:
The duct tape thing is starting to ring hollow when our ducts (in some cases literally) have enormous leaks.
Even duct taping over this disaster would be better than waiting for it to do billions more in damage to our house before we schedule a repair.
How’s that for an extended analogy?

To the Ad,
“B-”… I’m being very generous.
“Why?!”
Rauner mentions - 2 (1 visual, 1 spoken)
Trump mentions - 1
“Lawmakers” - 1 (visual)

It’s a first Ad, it looks like it.
Much better must be done.
The visuals were fine, so there’s that too.
