*** LIVE COVERAGE *** “Radical Candor”

Monday, Jul 17, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what group of people are likely behind the new RadicalCandorIL Twitter account. I followed it closely all weekend and since the resignations are continuing, I thought you might want a ScribbleLive feed

Some of those are pretty funny. I laughed at the Soylent Green reference. It does serve as a distraction from the daily IPI propaganda that’s on Facebook.

  2. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:19 am:

This Twitter has gone from snarky, smart, and brutal to “Level 9″ Savage, with great flair.

I keep checking what this Twitter will say next.

A “must follow” or check in.

  3. - DrurysMissingClock - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:22 am:

“Rauner Monday Schedule Guidance: Noon - cough on every apple in the Springfield Hy-Vee #twill”

I was ready to hate this, but they’re half funny.

  4. - Centenial - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:23 am:

Spent the better part of my Sunday reading their Twitter feed and enjoying a beer or two. Hilarious and smart.

Though I’m not convinced I know who it is yet.

  5. - Michelle Flaherty - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:24 am:

“Cough on every apple” made me laugh too

  6. - Whatever - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:31 am:

    Good stuff.

  7. - Stumpy's bunker - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:32 am:

Quite the refreshing departure from the Rauner-sponsored Orwellian Newspeak that insults the intelligence.

  8. - Happily Retired - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:53 am:

The mention of Jim Dimas in one of the tweets made me think, is he in or out?

  9. - City Zen - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 9:53 am:

    The beatings will continue…

…for however long $120 billion in pension debt is amortized.

  10. - Ron Burgundy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 10:09 am:

I don’t need a new one, but Radical Condor would be a pretty good username.

  11. - Christopher - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 10:15 am:

Somebody’s got a sense of humor. Tell it like it is, Radical Candor.

  12. - Secret Square - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 10:28 am:

I gotta share this. A couple of days ago I was going through some schoolwork my daughter did last year and there was a worksheet all about elections and elected officials. It had fill in the blank spaces for who is the president, who is the governor, who is the mayor, etc. She got all the answers right, except that for the governor, she wrote “Bruce BANNER” (the Incredible Hulk’s alter ego)… probably because she’d recently seen one of the Marvel movies with the Hulk in it. I’m kind of surprised someone hasn’t run with the “Hulk Smash!” theme yet….

  13. - Chicago Cynic - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 10:45 am:

Brilliant and addictive. Just waiting for my next fix. Thanks for using a scribble live thingy, though I’m concerned we don’t want to burn out our ex-Rauner people with pressure for constant new content.

  14. - Deft Wing - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 10:47 am:

    Kinda boring.

  15. - uh oh - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 2:51 pm:

Sounds like the new body guy may have to be fired after his first day. Racist and homophobic tweets. How far right is Rauner turning?

  16. - SAP - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 3:03 pm:

==Rauner to announce exciting new direction for state lottery; Shirley Jackson to be named director== Brilliant stuff.

  17. - Arthur Andersen - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 3:12 pm:

Is new body guy related to Gaming Board Chair?

  18. - pawn - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 3:38 pm:

If you are hiring someone who needs to scrub his social media of offensive posts, maybe don’t hire them?

  19. - Flapdoodle - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 3:56 pm:

This is first rate political sniping

  20. - Union proud - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 4:49 pm:

Some union communication staffer is clearly having the time of their life. This is seriously some of the funniest “stuff” I have read in a long time. Bravo. And already with a ‘confirmed kill’ under their belt to boot…

  21. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 4:52 pm:

    ===Some union communication staffer===

    A passive-aggressive hint?

Whoever it is, they are really good.

  22. - Union proud - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 4:55 pm:

No hint. Rich said it’s not too hard to figure out who is behind it. I assume it’s working Illinois or someone allied. Whoever it is struck gold. Not as funny as “dad’s home state” of course but up there. Btw any new episodes in the pipe? I’m jonesing…

  23. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 4:56 pm:

When your trolling of an Administration costs someone a job…

You can’t be chasing a Twitter handle and be losing that chase and seem… effective.

    Can’t be done. Sorry.

  24. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 5:00 pm:

===Not as funny as “dad’s home state” of course but up there. Btw any new episodes in the pipe? I’m jonesing…===

There are a few things that need clearing up, HBO-stuff, but fear not.

  25. - Oswego Willy - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 5:01 pm:

Thanks for the kind words - Union proud -

  26. - Wensicia - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 5:43 pm:

Wow, this is a heck of a debut.

  27. - Thoughts Matter - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 6:58 pm:

I hope they get to keep this handle. There is an actual book called radical candor. I like the term better here.

  28. - illini - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 7:17 pm:

This seems to be brutally honest and timely.

Much as I refrain from participating in any of the social media sites I do follow a half dozen. This one will be added to my list.

    Can’t wait for tomorrow.

  29. - wordslinger - Monday, Jul 17, 17 @ 7:38 pm:

    – Bruce Rauner‏Verified account @GovRauner

Lawmakers should send education funding bill SB1 to my desk immediately. This helps public schools in IL get equitable and adequate funding.–

    –Radical Candor@RadicalCandorIL

Psst - I’m not sure if anyone in the digital team is left to read this, but that tweet reads like the Gov is gonna sign SB1 not veto it. twitter.com/govrauner/stat…–

LOL, no question about it. His intention to sign it is unambiguous.

==Some union communication staffer is clearly having the time of their life.==

Given the timing of when this appeared, I’m thinking you’re focusing towards the wrong end of the Springfield spectrum for the source.

  31. - Pawn - Tuesday, Jul 18, 17 @ 9:06 am:

Kudos to the Sun-Times for the excellent hed
