“Wreck It Rauner” to attend State Fair

Wednesday, Aug 16, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller

* Pritzker campaign…

Today, on Governor’s Day at the state fair, Crisis Creatin’ Rauner introduced Wreck It Rauner. With a duct-taped wrecking ball in hand, Wreck It Rauner will highlight how Bruce Rauner is destroying our state and hurting Illinois families.

From wrecking social service agencies to hurting working families, Bruce Rauner’s damage is done and he must be held accountable. Before appearances at the state fair later today, Wreck It Rauner made a digital debut.

“Bruce Rauner came in like a wrecking ball and unleashed two-and-a-half years of destruction on our state,” said Pritzker campaign spokeswoman Jordan Abudayyeh. “The wreck he leaves in his wake has irreparably harmed families and hurt communities. Rauner’s damage is done and ‘Wreck it Rauner’ is ready to hold this failed governor accountable.”

Meh. Bit heavy on the silly for my taste.

  2. - Union Dues - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:12 am:

    Horrible and goofy.

  3. - Almost the weekend - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:13 am:

Don’t know how I feel about this, and don’t see how he can be let in to the fairgrounds with an object like that even if it is a wrecking ball composed of duct tape.

The Rauner imposter will probably be working in the Pritzker administration if he wins though. I’m thinking deputy chief of staff overseeing IDOT and DNR

    Ooof-that is bad.

  5. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:19 am:

    To the Pritzker Crew,

    Too cute by half.

Stick with “clock-like” mascots parading around.

This looks like the Rauner ridiculousness with Quinnoccio with bad local public access TV.

    This is not good.

This is worse than bad. It’s Dumb, with a capital D. Everything this crew is putting out is bad cartoon animation. They have commitment issues too. They can’t seem to stick with any theme. They’re all over the place; which means they’re “no place”.

As goofy as Pat Quinn could be, he had a lot better electronic communications people than this kindergarten crew. Where are the people who did this work for Quinn? I’d find them in a hurry.

To say this video stinks would be a huge understatement. It’s the absolute worst I’ve seen. I’d yank it pronto.

Whoever is thinking up and running these idiotic photo op “events” for JB doesn’t get it. Either the state is in serious trouble or it isn’t. Either JB is a serious candidate or he isn’t.

  8. - Whatever - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:28 am:

Sophomoric. And the production value is poor — can’t imagine how much of Pritzker’s money was wasted on this. Some “consultant” is getting rich.

  9. - Real - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:30 am:

    This is good

    Good job Priztker

  10. - Oswego Willy - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:38 am:

The video touting this is one thing…

The trolling of Rauner, and the press of the actual trolling of Wreck It Rauner will overshadow this video. That will get press, like Quinnochio did.

Quinnochio tells me this is so.

  11. - A guy - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:43 am:

You may be right Willy. But I don’t think so. The launch pad for it is so weak and they can’t seem to marry a theme to save their lives. But, we’ll see.

  12. - Sigh - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:50 am:

    Worth a look:

Many people from Northern Illinois bypass Springfield and Du Quoin in favor of the Wisconsin State Fair. Think of all of the lost tourism revenue.

  13. - Ghost - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 9:51 am:

Before Trunp i would say this would never work. now this seems to be the merica we live in

  14. - Annonin' - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 10:08 am:

Fun spot…should have been a Stu Levine look a like.

  15. - hot chocolate - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 10:10 am:

All folks will remember is the Wreck It Rauner part. That’s what will stick. Goofy video aside.

  16. - Mouthy - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 10:16 am:

Is this really the best a billionaire can do? I’ve seen worse but not by much…

  17. - Anonymous - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 10:16 am:

They can do better. Nobody is going to connect Rauner walking around with a giant ball with a little remember movie. Comments I predict: “Why is he carrying a ball?”…”They couldn’t afford a mask better than that?”

Referencing things only millennials will understand results in people who will actually be voting not understanding what you’re trying to say. Message fail.

  18. - Piece of Work - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 10:23 am:

At this point, who has been worse and looked more foolish, Kennedy or JB?

  19. - Shake - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 11:07 am:

Any Ad Against Rauner Is Good For ILLINOIS.

  20. - Dome Gnome - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 11:36 am:

    Nope.

  21. - WSJ Paywall - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 11:52 am:

Not a fan of the video. “Wreck It Rauner” is a good moniker, though.

  22. - Mr. B. - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 12:20 pm:

Come up with a better written and produced piece. Rauner gave you enough material to do it..

  23. - 312 - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 4:12 pm:

Like the moniker, but the video production is really really poor. They couldn’t create a CGI Rauner?

  24. - Cardsfan - Wednesday, Aug 16, 17 @ 6:52 pm:

While I agree it’s cheesy and not very well done, I believe the message resonates with the average voter. I think they can do better though.
