Another burning question answered!
Friday, Aug 25, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * Yesterday, I posted a little piece about JB Pritzker giving away free sunglasses to supporters. Some wondered where the shades were manufactured (China was mentioned) and if they were made by union labor. The topic came up again today on an unrelated post. So, I asked the Pritzker campaign. They said the sunglasses are made in the US of A by union labor. The glasses even have a union “bug” on them, I was told.

… and that’s a Crew that understands what’s up… and what’s at stake.
Good on them.

Come on, he has professionals around him.

Details that matter. So far, JP and has people are doing pretty well on the big picture and the little details.

The JB crew hits bucket no. 1 in The Grand Prize Game.

Supposedly, Rauner does as well.

While I hate that you have to be a billionaire now to mount a viable campaign, I have to admit that the Pritzker crew seem to have their act together.

Pot: But we all know that isn’t true.
- blue dog dem - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:22 pm:
my respect. Always easy to talk the talk.
- City Zen - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:23 pm:
So who’s the Illinois vendor that benefited from such a large purchase? What Illinois sales tax rate was charged?
- Juvenal - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:25 pm:
Really?
This is Nicki Budzinski for Pete’s sake.
Competent trolls know not to ask questions unless they already know the answer.

Can we get some details? Always the pessimist, I used the google machine and came up with a couple instances of:
“While plastic frames and lenses are not made domestically, the sunglasses pieces are assembled by SEIU Local 252 in New Jersey. They can also be printed with a union bug.”
What does “assemble” mean?
- wordslinger - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:33 pm:
City Zen, Cadillac, feel free to take the initiative and make your own efforts to answer your questions. The google is a wonderful tool.

Dude, I’m done with this goofy story. If you want to press it, feel free. Go order a pair.
- Amalia - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:36 pm:
good for them, unless, of course Cadillac is correct.
still does not make up for the tax/toilet error.

And in related news, the Rauner campaign is offering free sunglasses with a clever twist…the Opti Grab.

Professional campaign, good idea (I ordered a free pair and am still undecided). He has legit people around him which is why no one else can compete long term with him in the primary. Others have great people as well but compare roster to roster.

Kinda like dueling pianos.
The great cartoon caper vs the sun glass mystery.
- VanillaMan - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 12:54 pm:
Good.
I’d still never wear them.
Dorktastic.

===Dorktastic.
From a man who takes his name from being kinda square (meant in a positive sense)

Details matter. Good job Team Pritzker.
- Tommydanger - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 1:18 pm:
In the business of politics, small details are important. The fact that this smallest of detail was covered by Pritzker leads me to believe bigger details won’t be missed either.

I’ve never helped out a Democratic campaign without having long conversations about union bugs. Pretty sure one candidate wanted to get a bug tattooed on his arm just to save time.

It’s pronouned “Gy-na”
- VanillaMan - Friday, Aug 25, 17 @ 3:52 pm:
A VanillaMan doesn’t wear political attire, or brand worships. He occassionally keeps quiet as his wife and children excitedly gift him fashion items. They are quietly stored away until forgotten and then donated.
We aren’t a billboard for politicians, Nike, Under Armour, North Face, Levis, Browning, or anything found at a department store chain. We don’t refer to our belongs, cars or politicians by their brand names.
JB sunglasses is trying too hard. Pritzkers will never be chic.
