There really are only two people who live/work in Illinois who can put Kennedy into contention, but Kennedy doesn’t have the political courage to pick either. Those two would be Phelps or Vandermyde.
A strong pro-gun running mate would be the one move that could actually expand the IL Democratic Party, and both (particularly Todd) are friends of labor.
Kennedy instead will choose a Sanders supporter that nobody cares about and who will fail to generate any interest, and he will finish a distant third in the primary if he makes the ballot at all.

Unspecified time and location, because his campaign can’t get him to show up on time at the right place.
I’m with Gooner 2:26 PM - he’ll pick a Sanders supporter. Maybe a mayor rather than a legislator so he can continue to make the case that he’s an outsider that wants big change.
Ben Joravsky, only if he can continue with his radio show. If Ben says no, then John Kass to balance the ticket. Kass must also promise never to write another column.
We’ll talk “off the air” - 47th Ward - so I can get that address…

Bill Daley to remind us of how successful political family legacies truly are. He could champion privatization of the tollways to generate a short term budget windfall.
He had a respectable third-place finish in his run for mayor.
And he has a net worth of about $70 million.
Kennedy needs a running mate who brings a lot of cash to the equation, and that almost certainly means someone from the business community that is a traditional Democrat. Cross off all of the white males from Chicago metro area and you have a pretty good list to work from.
How about Hillary Clinton. Shes a proven winner with a proven track record in international and national issues.
