Schuh to Rauner admin?
Thursday, Sep 14, 2017 - Posted by Rich Miller * This has been going around since late August, and she’s never given a straight answer (and I’ve asked her several times). I think it might depend on whether Gov. Rauner picks a new chief of staff, but I’m just not sure…

The Governor would be fortunate to have her
- Anonymous - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 11:58 am:
Given who he got rid of in July this would be…interesting
- Give Me A Break - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:00 pm:
Don’t do it Patty. Remind yourself of the days of the Brady campaign, the hours, the constant fires to put out, dealing with the pains in the rear.
Just say No.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:03 pm:
With the IPI’s Rasmussen as CoS, if Ms. Schuh went over, with Rasmussen as the CoS and no changing Rasmussen in the offing, it might, honestly, break my heart.
- LouLecture - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:13 pm:
Is this an effort to get a more aggressive spokesperson in for the Senate Republicans?
I respect Patty and she is a great person with institutional knowledge. I see this as a bad move for her.
- Whatever - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:14 pm:
Patty is great — a true professional. I would hate to see her reputation sullied and her sanity threatened by having to spin Bruce’s lies and fight with what’s left of BTIA(tm). I would be worried that Patty may face the same fate as so many before her who have been thrown overboard based on the ever-changing whims of Bruce (and Diana!)
Bruce’s problem isn’t “messaging” (with which Patty undoubtedly could help) — it’s his faulty MESSAGE (or lack thereof).
- downstate hack - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:19 pm:
Patti would be the best he’s had

– and she’s never given a straight answer –
Thus the allure of having Ms. Schuh on board.
- Langhorne - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:38 pm:
Love patty
Don’t like this move at all, for her sake.
- Because I said so.... - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:41 pm:
Patty is well respected by all.
Whatever put it best….=I would hate to see her reputation sullied and her sanity threatened by having to spin Bruce’s lies and fight with what’s left of BTIA(tm).=
- Langhorne - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 12:44 pm:
How would this appt mesh w englehart?
- Anonymous - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 1:01 pm:
How many years has she been a state employee? Pension bump before retirement is about the only upside to this move. I’m sure Comms Director for the Gov pays better than Comms Director for the Senate GOP?

==How would this appt mesh w englehart==
Are the rumors she’d go over for Comms, or to be CoS? Mary Ann doesn’t specify in her tweet, and Rich says perhaps only with a new CoS
- ChiefM - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 1:43 pm:
Patty will be great wherever she goes.
- Eire17 - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 1:58 pm:
Patty is great. Asset to any team. Huge fan
- Sideline watcher - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 2:04 pm:
Love Patty! Really have mad respect for her. Would hate to see her do this. She was an up close and personal witness to what Rauner did and allowed to happen to Christine Radogno. Please don’t do this Patty.
- Winnin' - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 2:09 pm:
Good pension bump for her.
- Louis G Atsaves - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 2:36 pm:
If that does happen, a top flight gold star addition to the Governor’s office.
- Newsclown - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 2:47 pm:
I’d consider it a demotion, regardless of pay bump. Also, a job that won’t last too long. Maybe it’s based on the internecine implosion in the Illinois GOP. But then going to work for the head imploder makes no sense. She certainly can make up her own mind, and would be an asset wherever she hangs her hat, but I don’t really see much upside to the move if it happens. If I were the Minority Leader, I’d rather up her salary and keep her where she is, dooing good, than going to work for Hank Scorpio….
- Deft Wing - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 3:00 pm:
If she gets it, Rasmussen must be out.
- Spliff - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 3:03 pm:
I like Patty, I never agree with Patty. That being said why in the heck would anyone, anyone want that job?
- Ghost - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 3:38 pm:
so basically she is a Schuh in?
she has her schuh in the door?
- nadia - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 3:57 pm:
I hope she doesn’t accept the job if offered.
- Yellow Dog Democrat - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 4:35 pm:
After how Radogno was treated by Rauner, she shouldn’t even hesitate to say No.
- Oswego Willy - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 4:48 pm:
I’ve read this a few times, and while it does also sit heavy for me, it’s more than a bit unfair.
It’s unfair to both Leader Radogno and Patty Schuh.
“Why?”
Schuh goes back. Back from Brady to Radogno, from Radogno to Watson… from Watson to Phillip.
A career spanning that long (not trying to age ya, Patty, and this is written with deep admiration and quiet respect) the only real issue for Schuh is Rasmussen, for me.
She’s paid her dues to all she worked with and for, and if her last stop, or next stop is running the Press Shop or Communications for the governor of the 5th largest state in America under terms she’s comfortable with, I wish her nothing but the best.
Me? I may never be able to (I’ll never be asked, let’s be real, lol) work for this specific governor. Others may feel that way too. This business is about the duality of loyalty and fluidity.
Loyalty… and Fluidity.
Patty Schuh has more than earned the right to move on, move up, or just move. But under her own terms.
It would break my heart if she took a role with Rasmussen there, but it’s her choice, and she has earned that choice and that’s how it works.

“staff re-organization” translates to, I believe, “shifting around positions internally because we can’t find anyone on the outside who wants these jobs now”
- Anonymous - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 6:15 pm:
Bad move for your reputation patty. Don’t do it
- wordslinger - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 7:08 pm:
The governor’s office is hardly stable these days, despite months of Hud the Crisis Manager.
- DuPage Dave - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 7:56 pm:
Nice to someone get nothing but love from the CapFax commenters. Don’t know her but have to say it’s difficult to earn that kind of consensus.
- the Cardinal - Thursday, Sep 14, 17 @ 8:47 pm:
Patty is a one of the best people in the Cap… if they get her maybe some of the craziness on the second floor will go away…This could be a really good thing for the G but big leap on her part.
