* ILGOP…

More Mike Madigan Loyalists Endorse J.B. Pritzker’s Campaign for Governor
Stuart, Hoffman, and Greenwood all voted Madigan Speaker, now supporting Madigan’s candidate for governor

“J.B. Pritzker is the key for Mike Madigan to protect his majority, rig the legislative maps one more time, and tighten his grip on power. That’s why it’s no surprise that politicians loyal to Madigan are lining up behind Pritzker, Madigan’s candidate for governor. Illinois taxpayers can’t afford any more corrupt, tax-hiking politicians who are loyal to Madigan like J.B. Pritzker.” - Illinois Republican Party Spokesman Aaron DeGroot

It was over six months ago that we first learned Mike Madigan was “breaking legs behind the scenes” to ensure J.B. Pritzker steamrolls his opposition and wins the Democratic nomination for governor.

We already know Pritzker gave $900,000 to Madigan’s Super PAC and secretly funneled over $200,000 to Madigan’s hand-picked House candidates, but why does Madigan want Pritzker so badly? Other than using Pritzker’s inherited fortune to protect his majority, Pritzker is the key for Madigan to return Illinois to one-party rule by gerrymandering the legislative maps for another decade, tightening Madigan’s grip on power.

That’s why it’s no surprise that more lawmakers loyal to Mike Madigan have endorsed J.B. Pritzker’s campaign for governor. Not only have Katie Stuart, Jay Hoffman, and LaToya Greenwood voted for Speaker Madigan, they’ve pushed his unbalanced budgets, tax hikes, and job-killing regulations.

Now, House Democrats are falling in line with Madigan once again. They want Pritzker in the Governor’s Mansion so they can rig the legislative maps one more time and continue to push their disastrous Chicago agenda on Illinois taxpayers.

Democratic Comptroller Susana Mendoza blasted Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner for calling her a “puppet” of House Speaker Michael Madigan, saying the governor won’t accept responsibility for problems he’s created for Illinois.

“To always say, first of all, that a strong, independent, outspoken woman who holds him accountable is a puppet of someone else, which is exactly what he did call me … is just a condescending acknowledgment, frankly, that he cannot take criticism from anybody — much less than from a 5-foot-3 woman from Chicago,” Mendoza said on WGN 720-AM. […]

“If you want the job, then take the accountability that comes with it. Take the criticism that comes with it,” she said. “Don’t just take credit when people say nice things about you.

“When you screw up the state of Illinois to the extent that you have, take ownership of it. Act like a grown man and a grown adult. Don’t blame everybody else but yourself for your colossal failures,” Mendoza said. “This governor has a gene in his DNA code that does not allow him to take accountability or responsibility for any of the failures that he has imposed upon this state.”

    –Act like a grown man.–

    Not going to happen.

  2. - Lucky Pierre - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:34 am:

Ms Mendoza, have you ever heard a politician accept any accountability or responsibility for the failures imposed on the state during their time in office?

I would include your decade in the General Assembly where the debt of this state skyrocketed and the budget was balanced “except for the pensions” which now require over 25% of our budget just to pay the interest.

It’s not all about you, The Governor seems to have a problem with numerous short Chicago Democrats.

Visited the Comptroller’s web site yesterday to check on the status of an unpaid invoice. The first image that appeared was a backlog voucher report that effectively blames Rauner for all that has transpired (while listing Quinn as “previous administration”).

As long as Mendoza continue to repeat Madigan’s talking points or pulling stunts like this, Rauner is not unfairly calling her a puppet of the Speaker.

  4. - The Dude Abides - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:40 am:

The ILGOP, as well as the GOP members in the Legislature, allowed themselves to be bought by GOP Governor Bruce Rauner, that’s an undisputable fact. Now they’re feigning outrage over Madigan, through Pritzger, buying off Democrats. It’s only fun when we have the monetary advantage.

  5. - Henry Francis - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:47 am:

Madigan is “breaking legs behind the scenes”?

He sounds like a real tough guy.

And the Guv? He sure likes to play the part of a tough guy. Whether he’s a biker in black leather. Or he’s wearing his Carhartt while he’s outside working hard.

But I guess at the end of the day, the Guv just isn’t tough enough to beat Madigan. He can’t even do his job because of that big, tough bully Madigan won’t let him.

  6. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:52 am:

I feel bad for the little Raunerbots new to the workforce who are being indoctrinated that whining and refusing to take responsibility are positive attributes for professional advancement. Good luck with that.

  7. - Fixer - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:54 am:

The fact that he thought she was going to let that one blow past would be amusing, were he not the highest elected official in IL. I don’t know, maybe I expect too much by expecting those in leadership positions to behave like actual adults.

  8. - illinifan - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:55 am:

It is sad that he can’t take responsibility. His answer is money will buy the office. I am already sick of the robo calls received that are anti-Madigan. I never liked Madigan but heck if I will vote for anyone who is spending so much money and wasting my time with these stupid calls. Focus on leading the state rather than blaming one person for all of your failures.

  9. - Jocko - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:56 am:

    ==breaking legs behind the scenes==
Cue the video clip from “Misery” superimposing Madigan’s head on Kathy Bates’s body.

So Aaron DeGroot agrees that Bruce is not in charge?

  10. - Trapped in the 'burbs - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 10:58 am:

Now, Rauner is going to get into it with Mendoza. In the current climate, he’ll continue to damage his brand by insinuating that a duly elected, female constitutional officer is subservient to Madigan. He continues to commit unforced errors. How can the BTIA let this happen. The marijuana bill is coming and when he vetoes that, he’ll alienate moderates and independents to go along with the conservatives whose contempt for him is intense. What about this utter disaster of an administration could possibly lead any voters to conclude that a second term makes sense? He blew it.

  11. - Skeptic - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:06 am:

“As long as Mendoza continue to repeat Madigan’s talking points” How do you know Madigan isn’t repeating her talking points?

  12. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:07 am:

If Mendoza wants to blast Rauner using a political web site, that is fine, but it seems unprofessional and possibly unethical to use the official government funded web site for her elected office (paid for with taxpayer dollars) to do so.

  13. - Anon - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:22 am:

    Rudy Giuliani: Noun, verb, 9/11.
    (Couldn’t win a delegate.)

    Illinois Republicans: Noun, verb, Madigan.
    (Going to get annihilated.)

    Keep deluding yourselves, guys.

  14. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:22 am:

@Skeptic: Madigan rarely speaks at all.

  15. - Will County Hard R - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:39 am:

My I ask where is Senger at? You think she just might want to start her campaign against that 5 foot 3 woman from Chicago as she calls herself. I call her the 5 foot 3 egomaniac. Who played a big part in this mess regardless what party you belong to. Her voting record speaks volumes of who she really is

  16. - LevivotedforJudy - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:51 am:

Rauner should really leave Mendoza alone. Every time he pokes her, she body slams him.

  17. - wordslinger - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 11:58 am:

–My I ask where is Senger at?–

Last week, she was drafting memos trying to blame Duckworth for the deaths at the Quincy vets home.

“It was over six months ago that we first learned Mike Madigan was “breaking legs behind the scenes” to ensure J.B. Pritzker steamrolls his opposition and wins the Democratic nomination for governor.”

What was Rauner doing again to keep the GOP GA members in line? Perhaps someone can ask Sen. McCann about how Rauner reacts when he’s defied.

  20. - Yo - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 12:54 pm:

Mendoza might look at Madigan a bit when making statements about “screwing up the state of Illinois”? The fire has been burning a long time- and Rauner threw gas on it

  21. - JS Mill - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 1:10 pm:

    =I call her the 5 foot 3 egomaniac. =

LOL! So she doesn’t fall to pieces after Rauner’s personal attacks and actually knows how to hit back and that makes her an “egomaniac”?

Sheesh, the delicate daisy squadron of the “Hard R’s” is really in a huff.

If you want to be the tough guy and call people nasty names, you may want to be prepared to deal with it when someone else can give it back and accurately.

  22. - Will County Hard R - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 1:44 pm:

JS Mill- I am confused about your comments.
What makes her a egomaniac is the constant battering back and forth with the Governor. She was elected to be the state Comptroller not Speaker Madigans spokes person.
And it doesn’t take a tough guy to point out Miss Mendoza being very very complicit in regards to the financial mismanagement of this state. It was very convenient of you to leave that part of the equation out of your response.
Hard R Soft R Hard D Soft D or Independent she my friend is and was part of the problem this state has had for years.
As Willy would say, she voted for it she owns it or at least a part of it.

  23. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 1:48 pm:

===Miss Mendoza being very very complicit in regards to the financial mismanagement of this state.===

Did she veto two years worth of budgets ringing up, purposely, billions of debt?

    Hmm.

    ===As Willy would say..===

Oh boy. Using me as your touchstone is desperate, lol

===…she voted for it she owns it or at least a part of it.===

So these past few *cough* 3 years *cough*… Rauner hasn’t been in charge?

What will be better in a Rauner second term? Rauner isn’t in charge now, lol

  24. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 2:19 pm:

yep, I’d say Madigan is a reformless creature. He’s complicit. State wasn’t in good shape before Rauner came in. I enjoy the Madigan bashing. Keep it up Rauner, it’s all you got.

  25. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 4:38 pm:

Mendoza, like Rauner and Madigan, is wearing me out.

  26. - Jaxon - Tuesday, Dec 19, 17 @ 5:14 pm:

I think the populist is growing tired of Rauners victimized “ poor me” blame game . Both R’s and D’s . It does not inspire confidence.
