Isnt it amazing what is going on in baseball free agency?

  2. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 2:54 pm:

Congrats to Sen. Duckworth. Best of luck and praying all goes well.

  3. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 2:56 pm:

Speaking of baseball, it looks like Todd Ricketts was called up to the big league today.

As Mel Allen would say: “How about that?”

  4. - DE - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 2:57 pm:

Is the Gaming Bill (Senate Bill 7?) going to get voted on in the House this spring/year? And if not, will Hawthorne and Arlington shut down?

  5. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:00 pm:

Anybody in southern Illinois folowing Schimpfs highway to nowhere campaign?

  6. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:01 pm:

“Todd Ricketts To RNC For ‘Cash Considerations’”

    Fun stuff

  7. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:07 pm:

I think Ricketts was the player to be named later in the Romney for Hatch trade.

  8. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:07 pm:

Hoping Bulls work this out to get Asik back. Love that guy

  9. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:15 pm:

===I think Ricketts was the player to be named later in the Romney for Hatch trade.===

    Ah.

You move Ricketts for Cash… leaving room for the Romney “sign and trade” in November…

    Now that makes sense.

  10. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:16 pm:

    Money ball, eh Willy?

    Well played, sir. Well played.

  11. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:19 pm:

“Evolve or die”, - 47th Ward - as I tip my cap to you as well.

  12. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:21 pm:

Now that Ricketts is head of the RNC I am sure we will see an end to congressional earmarks. True Republicans dont believe in pork barrel spending.

  13. - PJ - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:22 pm:

    ===an end to congressional earmarks===

    Those ended several years ago

  14. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:25 pm:

Agreed, many blessings and congratulations to Sen. Duckworth.

  15. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:25 pm:

    ===Those ended several years ago===

Yep, right about the time Congress lost its ability to pass any meaningful legislation.

  16. - DuPage Saint - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:27 pm:

Does Aaron Schock have a trial date? I may not be the best at Google but usually can find stuff. All I see are old dates and nothing new. thanks

  17. - Oswego Willy - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:30 pm:

In regards to earmarks, I guess, will Rauner try to pretend again he wants a capital bill this session?

With an alleged balanced budget, using the tax increase to get there, (how he couldn’t would be a magic bean as big as “Skyscape”) does Rauner try to get a traveling sideshow of shovels and hard hat costume pictures?

  18. - Last Bull Moose - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:42 pm:

Does anyone else have a story about using an expression the audience did not know. A few years ago my team was working on a problem. I said, “Let’s find out if this a Pony or a Percheron. “. Five minutes later one of the participants had the nerve to ask, “What’s a Percheron?” It’s the largest draft horse, bigger than a Clydesdale.

After that I tried to be more careful. Still use the “taller than a chipmunk” standard. For example, a Governor Ives would be better than Governor Rauner, but that is using the taller than a chipmunk standard.

  19. - 47th Ward - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 3:50 pm:

    LBM,

I get some weird looks from younger people when I discuss the relative merits of betamax vs. vhs.

  20. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 4:09 pm:

Does everyone know the Illinois record crappie, weighing 4 lbs 8.8 oz, came out of southern Illinois’ Kinkaid Lake?

  21. - Arthur Andersen - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 4:21 pm:

LBM, AA has that problem with the kids. “Dad, what are you talking about?”

  22. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 4:24 pm:

You want to ruin a grandkid for life? Tell them your a StarWars junkie and stand in line for a new release.

  23. - Etown - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 4:27 pm:

    DE

Look like there is not a lot of,concern about SB 7 or for, that matter if Hawthorne or Arlington close but it’s early

If SCOTUS rules in favor of NJ sports gambling law then things will change

  24. - Blue dog dem - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 4:57 pm:

Whats the over/under on Bost v. Kelley?

  25. - New at this - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 5:04 pm:

I just want to say thank you to all the commenters. Every day I learn something new or I’m shown a different perspective. I never feel dragged down, like I do when I read other stuff out there.

  26. - Amalia - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 5:22 pm:

Ricketts RNC. happier than ever to be a Sox fan.

  27. - Anonymous - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 7:04 pm:

Who will win this year’s Super Bowl?

  28. - cailleach - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 7:10 pm:

Rich, has Oscar’s bad haircut grown out yet?  Campaign season is heating up, SotS and SotU are imminent . . . Pics of Oscar have a proven calming influence. Just sayin’ . . .

BTW, not sure I want an AG who doesn’t know the difference between elude and allude.

  29. - DuPage Dave - Tuesday, Jan 30, 18 @ 7:45 pm:

    Tinker to Ricketts to Cash???
